Hi!! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Virginia. I received a Master of Social Work degree from Radford University and have been in practice for over 20 years. I enjoy helping adolescents and adults handle the stresses of daily life and become the healthiest versions of themselves. I have experience in outpatient therapy, community mental health and school-based mental health services.
In the first session, I really enjoy just getting to know the client. What is important for me to know about you? What is it that brought you to therapy and how can I help? What strengths do you have that will help us reach our goals and what things are you looking to improve?
I have experience working with a broad range of people in a wide range of settings. I have provided assistance to children as young as 3 as well as senior citizens and everyone in between. I have worked with people in offices, schools and homes. I enjoy building relationships with clients and helping them feel comfortable with me and with the therapy process.
I am passionate about working with individuals to help them lead happier and more fulfilling lives. I enjoy helping people find those things that might be hindering them and holding them back from living their best lives and find ways to move past those. I also enjoy helping individuals heal from any grief and trauma they have suffered in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be really helpful in helping people change their mindset and challenge unhelpful negative thought patterns that are keeping them stuck. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, hopefully decreasing anxiety and stress.
