Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Northeast Pennsylvania. I received my master's in clinical psychology from Chestnut Hill College. I have been practicing as a counselor for over ten years. I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse for over twenty years. I have had the privilege of working with adolescents and adults in outpatient and inpatient settings.
In the first session, I feel as though it is important to learn about the client and have them feel comfortable. I value a therapeutic relationship and feel as though it is important to make people feel comfortable with identifying health goals.
Having worked in variety of setting provides me with a unique insight into to people and how to assist in their personal goals. I have learned from the people in those environments, whether it be a drug and alcohol setting, or a correctional setting. I have always enjoyed the challenge of connecting with people and learning about their lives and what their personal goals are.
The five basic needs are identified as Power, or a sense of self-worth and achievement. Love and belonging or being part of a family or community of loved ones. Freedom, or independence. Fun, which includes a sense of satisfaction or pleasure, or the comfort of knowing that one's basic needs—food, shelter, and sex—are met.
