Hi, my name Amy and I am a LPC, practicing in Connecticut. I have been a School Counselor for the past 13 years and have gained experience working with children and adolescents with attentional difficulties, anxiety, trauma, school and peer difficulties and many other areas. I have recently starting working with both adolescents and adults with my LPC. My main focus is creating an environment where my clients feel safe and supported. I want everyone to know that they are not alone in how they are feeling and there are always ways to work through challenges. I look forward to working with you and helping you to become the best version of yourself!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together we will do introductions and get to know each other a bit. After learning a bit about you we will work together to determine the next steps in working together and what you feel you want to work on first. As we continue our work together we will reevaluate your needs along the way.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked with children, adolescents, and young adults for several years I feel I have experience with different challenges that arise along the way. My approach and demeanor create a very safe and welcoming environment where clients feel they can open up to me and share some of their personal struggles. I am an amazing listener that really wants the very best for all of my clients and I believe that shines through when we speak. I want the best for you and for you to feel that your time is being productive and beneficial.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients who are open to making changes that will improve how they feel in their day to day lives. Asking for help is the hardest first step but I enjoy being there to watch my clients succeed and feel successful. As with anything everyone has their ups and downs in feeling better about themselves and their goals but I think of myself as a nonjudgmental support who will continue to cheer you on along the way.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve become more familiar with CBT over the last couple of years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Motivational Interviewing

I have provided support and guidance to my clients over the last few years by using motivational interviewing. I work together with my clients to determine goals and steps in order to help them achieve those goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Over the years I have found person-centered techniques to be very helpful when fostering a safe and supportive environment for my clients.
