Hello, My Name is Wendy Aguirre and I am a License Clinical Social Worker in California. I received my Masters degree from San Diego State University and have been practicing for 15 years. I provide therapeutic support in both English and Spanish. I enjoy helping adults who experience stress, anxiety, depression, relational problems, and trauma. I help guide in exploring ways to become the best version of themselves. I invite you to work with me together to explore your strengths, build self-compassion and increase capacity to navigate life challenges.
We will start by talking about what brings you into therapy and getting to know each other, and I will share information on the therapeutic process. I will ask questions to learn about you with the intention of gaining an understanding of your experience and I how I can support you. We will review your strengths as well as barriers that have blocked you in feeling your best self and begin to explore a plan of action that support your goals. We will also take some time to review confidentiality and boundaries, and what you can expect from sessions moving forward. My hope and goal are that the therapeutic environment is comfortable, and you feel heard and seen.
The years of experience has helped me in learning how to create a safe and welcoming environment that support you in sharing about your challenges and your life. I pride myself in creating a non-judgmental and empathic environment to help identify the root cause of your challenges and create a plan that leads to measurable progress.
I love working with adults who are seeking to understand the self and are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. I love working with adults who may feel stuck and overwhelmed about current or past challenges or have experience trauma.
I use cognitive behavioral strategies to assist you with exploring the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore short- and long-term goals and identify steps to help you achieve your goals.
I utilize a strength-based approach to help identify individual strengths that can assist you in overcoming challenges and build resilience.
I use a trauma informed lense to help you explore and understand the self in a way that build self-compassion and increase capacity for functioning.
