I earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, I received a secondary Guidance Certification from Villanova University. I am a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor and have worked in a broad range of settings for over 28 years. I believe that the best clinical practice is an evidence-formed, eclectic model whereby the therapist adjusts to the needs of the client. I strive to provide clients with an opportunity to explore their inner selves, their relationships with others and their innate striving for wholeness, creativity, and well-being. Therapy can increase overall sense of well-being, build stronger coping and problem-solving skills, strengthen one's resiliency and determination, change behavior, and build stronger interpersonal relationships. The establishment of a trusting relationship between the client and therapist is of utmost importance to be able to work together to build a skill set to adapt and overcome life's most difficult challenges in order to create a fulfilling life. Regardless of a client's clinical needs, it is imperative to determine their support system and focus on the encouraging aspects of those relationships in helping the client become more resilient and set on a positive path in life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to be met with respect, empathy and compassion. In the first session, a client will hear my experience and relatable history in working with the issues presented. Will work on rapport building so the client will feel at ease in sharing their story in a caring and trusting environment. Prior to scheduling follow up sessions, goals will be established along with a general plan for how the therapeutic process will help achieve those goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been described as a relatable therapist who uses a comfortable and conversational style of therapy that does not feel “clinical” but rather supports a natural flow of shared experience and ease of processing deep emotions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy can help by teaching a person to identify and challenge negative thoughts and to replace them with more positive and productive ones. CBT is based on the idea that negative thoughts and feelings can lead to a negative cycle and that you can break this cycle by learning to change your thought patterns. As a psychotherapist, I have used this modality for over 28 years in conjunction with an eclectic array of other modalities as deemed appropriate for the individual client.
