I am someone who spent many years in the business world before finding recovery and figuring out counseling is what I'm supposed to be doing. I believe I don't have the answers for you, you do! I believe it's my job to help you get to the answers. I try real hard not to tell people what to do but will share what my experience has been. I use humor when I can as none of us are getting out here alive so we might as well laugh as to cry.

Hi there! Let's sit and chat... Are you looking for a safe space to explore and organize your thoughts and feelings? Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience one another as real people. I can assure you our sessions will be as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for. We'll work on building trust and a sense of safety, using open communication and humor, to identify how we can improve on your already existing coping skills, supports, and knowledge. Although this process may be challenging, we will work to enjoy the process as much as possible, so you can experience yourself, your relationships, and your life in new ways. Simply put, I don't think therapy has to be a painful thing for you. Starting this step can be hard and I would love the opportunity to work with you on this journey. For Private Pay Clients: Individual Sessions: $190/hour Couple/Family Sessions: $230/hour **All couples and families are seen via private pay. This allows us to focus on the relationships in the room, rather than the diagnosis of an individual. **For those out of network, should you meet criteria for a diagnosis accepted by insurance companies, I can provide monthly superbills that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Please note that the payments received by the insurance provider as reimbursement may not cover the full service fee and I cannot guarantee reimbursement.

I'm a psychotherapist with 35-plus years of experience. After completing training in clinical social work and psychology at the University of Maryland (M.S.W., 1988) and Saybrook Institute (Ph.D., 1991), I began practicing as a family, couples and individual therapist. I have hosted on radio/podcasts, have written two books and thousands of self-help articles in my "Life's a Beach" column for nationwide Gannett media. I love working with clients in the here-and-now, and finding solutions to move forward with life. My primary goal is to help you help yourself. I will guide and coach you, not tell you what to do. Diagnostic labels are useful at times, but you are not your labels. I'm your thinking partner: We'll reason and think our way to what makes sense together.

I have been in private practice for about 12 years but have been a therapist for about 15-16. *I have included my basic work hours in the availability calendar but feel free to message me if you need to inquire about other availability. I often have other availability but it changes weekly so I cannot list it as static availability on my Grow Calendar. I grew up in Las Vegas, NV in a big, blended family. During my internship and following graduation, I worked at an inpatient treatment facility for teens dealing with high suicidality, self-harming behaviors, and psychosis. It was during this time that I began to recognize how much work can be done to prevent crises before they strike, rather than trying to figure it all out afterwards. Also, it isn't just big things like suicide that can be prevented-working to decrease stress, anxiety, increase fulfillment..these are worthwhile too. If you feel nervous/weird/awkward/anxious about therapy, that’s normal. All I can say is, you matter. You are an important part of the world. Let’s work together and see if maybe, just maybe, things could get a little better.
