Hi, I'm Katie, a Licensed Clinical Social. Helping and supporting others has been a driving factor in my life; therefore, I began my career as a teacher. My education and experience in the classroom greatly influenced me; however, I saw how difficult it is to learn when one is struggling with many emotional and mental health needs. While in graduate school, I transitioned to working with families in more of a case management role. During that time, I started noticing how the adults I worked with were often struggling and had not received the help they needed. After completing graduate school, I began working in an inpatient hospital that treats mental health and chemical dependency. After several years working with patients individually and facilitating group therapy, I transitioned to managing an intensive outpatient mental health program for senior adults. In this role, I facilitated group therapy and met with patients individually at times. I greatly enjoyed getting to know my clients and cheering alongside them as they made progress. While I value group therapy, I recognize that it is not the right fit for everyone. Therefore, I have set up a private practice to meet the needs of individuals in ways I was unable to do in previous roles. I believe change is possible and that each person has strengths and life experiences that they can draw upon to help themselves move forward. My passion is helping clients utilize what they already have, learn additional tools for coping, and develop healthier ways of thinking.

Sometimes the body is the first indicator that it's time to deal with our trauma. When this happens, the feelings that arise can be overwhelming and scary. The good news is, you don't have to deal with them alone. In the words of Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score: “Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.” My role in this process is to help you understand the origin of these thoughts and gently escort you into a new future. Need to talk about issues of trauma, depression or anxiety? Feel like you’re drowning amidst all the recent changes in your life? If so, I’d be happy to explore this with you further. I help adults from diverse backgrounds and cultures deal with different life transitions and manage self esteem issues. I have a trauma focused background and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I primarily use the tools of compassion, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and problem solving to offer new perspectives on dealing with intergenerational trauma. In many cases, certain behaviors unknowingly are repeated between parents and their children. In session, we address your childhood trauma by discussing what happened, and processing your past and present feelings. Aside from family trauma repetitions, dealing with all the recent changes in the world can also be a source of stress and anxiety. When we meet, we’ll dive into all these stressors and establish a plan for self-care that will assist you in letting go of negative thoughts and feelings and move towards a space of more optimism.

Hello! I'm Dorian. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Florida. I received my Masters of Social Work from Florida State University in 2014, focusing on clinical social work. With over 10 years of direct experience working with a diverse range of clients, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy tailored to individual needs. I approach therapy with flexibility and adaptability, focusing on what will best align with you, the client. But, of note, I do so very casually, honestly, conversationally, and course, hilariously (the latter, though subjective, has been confirmed. By me.) . Opening yourself up to therapy can be intimidating! A bit scary! But there's no requirement stating you must dread it. Through my views on mental health, self help, and all kinds of therapy - combined with, well, my personality - it seems that I've become adept at a sort of "stealth therapy." Admittedly self-defined, I'd best explain this by saying that sessions are conversational, instead of a "traditional" therapist-role to client-role back and forth. Just kidding. But, I approach therapy in a way I . I don't speak in riddles, and I won't pretend that I know you better than you know you. I listen, I hear your words -- your input has value and I will never dismiss you or your concerns.

Painful experiences often lead us to build defenses to protect ourselves from overwhelming emotions. These defenses can take many forms perfectionism, escapism, anger toward loved ones, or becoming involved in unhealthy relationships. While they may offer temporary relief, they ultimately disconnect us from ourselves and others, often resulting in feelings of loneliness, shame, anxiety, and depression. I’m passionate about helping people strengthen their self-worth and process traumatic experiences that create harmful patterns and a sense of insecurity. I believe that although wounding often happens in relationships, healing also occurs through connection. With courage and a willingness to face uncomfortable truths, meaningful and lasting change is possible. Healing can happen—and there is always hope.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to invest in your healing and growth. I believe we all carry within us the resources we need to enjoy life in a realistic and authentic way. As a psychotherapist, I help people utilize their thinking, speaking and actions to tap into the present moment and move towards greater health and wellness. I have experience working with mental health diagnosis and treatment In both outpatient and inpatient settings, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, grief and loss and trauma disorder such as PTSD. A good therapist will not shame or blame you; will not try to become your parent or your buddy. They will cheer you on your journey and at times, help you see yourself in a new and different way. They will not do the work for you. They will help you keep accountable to yourself and the goals you create together in the work. They will encourage clear communication, authenticity, patience and compassion both for yourself and others. Accountability is a necessary part of any therapeutic relationship. I require at least 24 hours' notice prior to cancelling your scheduled appointment. Same day cancellations or no shows are subject to a Grow therapy fee of $50. Similarly, if I have to cancel within 24 hours' notice your next session will be free. The therapy process is engaged, dynamic and can be immensely satisfying. I look forward to your journey and wish you courage, compassion and power!
