Hi! I'm a licensed clinical social worker, licensed to practice in New York, Virginia and Florida. I acquired a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University and have a master's degree in psychology from NYU. I have been practicing for 16 years working with clients experiencing a wide range of issues that may include one or more of the following: low self confidence, relationship issues, anxiety/overthinking, depression, coping with life changes as well as parents facing challenges with their children. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our sessions to meet your unique and specific needs. My approach pulls from many different therapy styles blended with a direct, no-nonsense approach. I am here to support you in taking the steps towards building a more peaceful, fulfilling and authentic life.
In the first session, I like to begin with brief introductions and ensure I have a complete history and background so that we may dive into issues you may be facing right now. I also like to go over expectations, a playbook for future sessions, and ensure we have a plan for open communication, throughout our work together.
Getting results. Experience in the corporate and start-up worlds taught me to be results focused. My clients have high rates of success, change the way they approach life and report benefits from treatment.
I have studied CBT for years and utilize CBT the most in my practice, primarily because it is an evidenced based treatment, shown time and time again to be effective, which I see in my own practice as well. CBT, blended with a direct, no-nonsense approach balanced with compassion and validation provide results you see and feel.
I have studied DBT for years and often utilize DBT in my practice, incorporating other treatment methods and theories. DBT blended with a direct, no-nonsense approach to treatment, balanced with compassion and validation, provide results you see and feel.
Motivational interviewing is a treatment method I use most commonly when clients report feeling "stuck," while goal setting, and reducing specific behaviors (i.e., substance use).
I see therapy as a joint venture; I am not the "knowledge keeper" and think it is important for clients to be as knowledgable and empowered as possible, providing client education, is a key part of my approach.
I draw on attachment type theory especially as it may relate to family dynamics and romantic relationships. Exploring attachment style may be a helpful tool for some clients, especially around issues of "co-dependency" or when clients have relationships with individuals who demonstrate narcissistic or borderline personality traits.
