LMFT, 17 years of experience
Hi - Therapy is about empowering you to make decisions that make you feel good. It's also about understanding that, even when the 'perfect' decision isn't available, that you have the strength to manage any outcome. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Doctorate in Marital and Family Therapy. I have over 17 years experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I'm also an expert in compassion fatigue and burnout and dealing with career stress and boundaries. I help people struggling in areas of work and other relationships find ways to better connect and to feel like themselves once again by challenging what contributed to negative feelings in the first place. I have worked with adults my entire career, as well as youth and adolescents. My outcomes are positive because I focus on building relationships through genuineness and humor.
The initial session is meant for me to understand what brought you to therapy, to discuss goals and expectations, and to see how recent challenges have impacted you. My goal is to see how I can help you and to generate conversation about what we might expect throughout the relationship. From there, we will formulate and talk about the plan and how we can maintain accountability to create the change you're looking to make. From there, it's simply about maintaining consistency, which is the hallmark of any good therapy.
Over the last decade, my approach has been about being genuine, being real. I have extensive education and training. I use humor to break down the inherent challenges that occur in getting to know people. I understand a client's needs from their perspective, and provide a therapy based on their values, even as they change over time. My greatest strength is allowing people to feel seen and heard. I am approachable and make myself available to my clients. I am a professor at the university level and this furthers my ongoing desire to stay current in trends and ways to help with anxiety, trauma, depression, and relationship issues.
I love working with young and seasoned professionals who are inclined to learn about themselves and ways in which they can improve through awareness and understanding. My clients are able to appreciate a conversational approach with use of humor and mindfulness to reach realistic and measurable goals. Most of my clients experience anxiety and have had trauma that gives them pause in their relationships, but all have motivation to change that which makes them feel stuck.

My life was piling up with chaos. Caring for an aging parent, home life, health, new grandson, procrastination, and lack of balance. Dain is awesome, he’s able to help me focus and plan for small victories which lead to completing tasks that are way overdue. He helps me laugh and understand how to maintain control of my life, setting boundaries to put myself first. He’s so helpful with my depression and anxiety. He’s helped me see myself in a totally new way.

I scrolled through many different therapists, like it was a dating app. When I saw Dain Kloner’s profile my gut told me to make an appointment with him. It didn’t take long to realize that Dain Kloner was the therapist I needed. I never feel embarrassed talking with him about my issues, I never feel like he’s judging me. Dain continues to help me identify the actual source of issues that I am dealing with, and gives me the best advice for me. Therapy continues to make me a better person.
