Counseling is a third career for me. For years I felt misaligned with my values and core beliefs and ultimately realized that I could no longer live incongruently. This internal friction eventually pushed me to pursue a role supporting the growth and development of others. My experiences have allowed me to explore life’s transitions, episodes of uncertainty, periods of darkness and many moments of joy. Although these experiences provided support for me, we are never able to know the lens through which another views the world. I approach counseling with a person-centered orientation, seeking to learn your truth to support your growth.
During our first session we will explore what you have been experiencing and the challenges you have been facing. I will inquire around your story and where you come from, seeking to build an understanding of your life and experiences that have shaped you. I lead with curiosity and compassion, and work to create a safe space for you to further investigate your world and the experiences you have had.
I feel I enter the therapeutic space with an openness and authenticity that allow clients to feel safe, valued and heard. I believe in the beauty and power of curiosity, and consistently lead with this quality as we work to more deeply understand the way you view, process and experience your world.
Are you struggling to find meaning in life? Perhaps you are in a period of transition: between educational endeavors, entering adulthood, switching professional pursuits, leaving or entering a pivotal relationship, or struggling to understand your place within the world and feeling uncertainty around where you belong. Maybe you have everything you could possibly need, yet still feel a vacancy that permeates your thoughts and feelings throughout the day. Mindlessly scrolling, searching for others to connect with or more items to buy to fill the emptiness that continues to nag, unsatiated? It can feel insurmountable, the question of how to move forward and even where to begin. We are here to support you, seek to understand more deeply, and partner with you as you journey towards realizing the life of purpose and meaning you desire
I lead with curiosity to build an understanding of my client's reality and how they process the world, identifying stuck points and bringing awareness to what they want in their life.
My work with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy seeks to blend understanding what the client wants with bringing awareness to the realities of what is inside and outside of their control. This modality aims to support individual agency while also accepting aspects of life that we cannot and disallowing them from creating anxiety and despair.
I received training for Exposure and Response Prevention therapy through the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. Through exposure therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and anxiety-related disorder, I aim to support clients in addressing their fears directly, understanding how to live within uncertainty with greater stability and ways to regain control in life through awareness and action.
I support clients as they investigate what it means to be human, how to navigate the world in alignment with their values, and how to create meaning and purpose to live a fulfilling and contented life.
I support clients in recognizing how their thoughts impact their emotional outcomes. Our work seeks to identify distorted and maladaptive ways of thinking, aiming to restructure how clients process and approach their subjective worlds for healthier, more desirable emotional outcomes.
