(she/her)
Hello, my name is Margo Ferrin, and I have been working in the Counseling field for 26 years. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with the diverse population, including young adults, adults, and seniors. I believe therapy should be a supportive and compassionate space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empower to grow. My approach is collaborative and personalized, helping clients navigate life's challenges while building practical tools for emotional wellness and personal growth. Throughout my career, I have supported clients experiencing anxiety, stress, life, transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and questions surrounding identity and purpose. I work, especially well with individuals seeking greater balance, clarity, and confidence in their personal and professional lives. My purpose is to create a non-judgemental environment, where clients can explore their experiences openly while working toward meaningful and lasting change. Weather, you are navigating a difficult transition, feeling, overwhelmed, or simply looking to better understand yourself, I strive to help you feel supported every step of the way.
During a client's first session, the therapist will spend this time getting to know you .understanding your concerns, and discuss what brought you into therapy. The first session is often referred to as an "intake" or "assessment" session and is designed to help both the client and therapist determine the best path forward. The client will also review important information such as confidentiality, office policies, scheduling, and the therapeutic process. The first session is not about judgement or having all the answers, but building comfort, trust, and understanding. Clients are encouraged to share at their own pace and ask questions about the therapist's approach, what therapy may look like moving forward, and how treatment goals can be developed together. The overall goal of the first visit is to create a safe, supportive environment, where clients feel hard respected and understood.
What stands out most about my therapeutic approach is my ability to combined 26 years of professional experience with genuine compassion, empathy, and understanding. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping clients feel truly heard while also building practical tools for growth and healing. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment, where clients can openly, explore, anxiety, stress, grief, identity, relationships, life, transitions, and personal challenges at their own pace. What makes me unique is not only my years of experience, but also my ability to connect authentically with people from many walks of life. Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My treatment method in therapy is based on cognitive behavioral therapy principles, often referred to as cognitive Behavioral Health. Through my experience and practice, I have used this approach to help. clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I believe that many emotional and behavior challenges are influenced by negative or unhelpful, thinking patterns, and that by identifying and changing these patterns, clients can improve their overall mental health and daily functioning. In my practice, I have used cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and build greater self-awareness. I work collaboratively with clients to identify triggers, challenge, irrational, or distorted thoughts, and replace them with more balanced and realistic, thinking. I also encourage clients to practice behavioral changes outside of sessions so they could apply what they learned in real life situations My experience with this treatment method has shown me the importance of creating a supportive, structured, and goal oriented therapeutic environment. I focus on helping clients feel empowered by teaching practical strategies they could continue using independently. Techniques I have incorporated includes cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, stress management, relaxation strategies, journaling, and behavior activation. I have found that cognitive behavioral health approaches are effective with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem, issues, adjustment difficulties, and life transitions. This method allows me to tailor treatment plans to each clients individual needs while maintaining a collaborate and evidence based approach to care. Overall, my use of cognitive behavioral therapy in practice has strengthen my ability to help clients, recognize patterns, develop healthier behaviors, and work towards meaningful personal growth and emotional wellness..
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
In my practice, I use Solution–Focused Brief Therapy to help clients focus on their strengths, goals, and solutions rather than remaining centered on problems from the past. This approach helps clients recognize their abilities and resources they already have to create positive change in their lives. I work with clients collaborativelyto identify achievable goals, build coping skills, and develop practical strategies that can improve their daily functioning and emotional well-being. Through supportive and goal entered conversations, I help client gain confidence, increased motivation, and focus on small meaningful steps towards progress.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Another treatment approach in therapy I use is rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). Through my experience, learning and applying this method, I have come to appreciate its focus on the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviors. REBT emphasizes that people often are not disturbed solely by situations themselves, but by the beliefs and interpretations they attach to those situations In my practice, I use REBT by helping clients, identify irrational or self defeating thoughts that contribute to emotional distress I work with clients to challenge negative thinking patterns, replace unrealistic beliefs with healthier and more rational, perspectives, and develop coping strategies that support emotional regulation and behavior change.. One aspect of REBT that resonates with me is it's structured and educational nature. I appreciate helping clients recognize how automatic thoughts could influence, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, and decision-making. Through techniques such as cognitive restructuring, reframing, and guided questioning. I encourage clients to examine evidence for their beliefs and develop more balanced ways of thinking. I also found that REBT aligned with my beliefs in personal growth, resilience, and self-awareness. Rather than focusing only on past experiences, this approach allows clients to actively work towards present day solutions and healthier emotional responses in practice. I aim to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to challenge on unhelpful beliefs, and build confidence in their ability to manage life's challenges. Overall, my experience with R.E. BT has shaped my therapeutic style by reinforcing the importance of empathy, accountability, emotional insight, and practical problem-solving within the Counseling relationship
