About me

I’m Johanna. I work with creative people, and with those who are working to heal, transition, and evolve from things that have hurt them. My approach blends traditional talk therapy with deeper work. With the use of Brainspotting and Jungian interventions, because real change rarely happens at the surface, we create deep meaningful change. When we're willing to go underneath, to the place where the old story lives, we can heal it and create room to become something new.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first time on therapy can be overwhelming as we do not often live in a world where there is a space for pain and grief. Telling your story can feel intimidating and there can be embarrassment or shame, but very quickly you will find that in the safety of the space, there is only love and grace. We are all having a human experience and it is supposed to be messy. The part of you that led you to the appointment is the part of you that will lead you through the process also. You sit, we talk, it's nice.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Session with me look like coming into a safe space of reflective relationship where you are free to unfold at your own pace. Through validation, questions, perspective shifts, and leaving room for the body to shed old story through tears, you leave different. There is no homework and no expectation as healing is personal and bigger than the mind. The process of healing is expansive and I find that it is sometimes hard to heal because we are letting go of the known and stepping into versions of ourselves we have never been. In relationship, this new self gains strength and experience in practice.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who comes in courageous to explore and seeking to be understood. While change takes time to create, my clients are curious and vulnerable, allowing themselves to feel deeply. They often have spiritual beliefs of some kind from nature to past lives although they do not often have a current religious orientation. They may have divested from family trauma or a church organization. They may be exploring aspects of personality , sexuality, transition, or loss. My ideal client don't just want to feel better, they want whatever pain to be alchemized into their best self.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use person-centered therapy due to the pretty simple but kind of radical idea that people do their best growing when they feel truly seen. I do not judge nor fix you. You are the expert of you My tools are: Empathy, to actually understand what it's like to be you, from the perspective and experience of you from the inside. And to always do this with unconditional positive regard, accepting you exactly as you are, no conditions attached. My role is to be very genuine. I show up as a real person, not some blank therapist-shaped screen. I'm here to be steady, honest, and genuinely in your corner and through this, the parts of you that already know how to heal and grow have room to do that.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful somatic experience that allows process in the body, under the surface. It is impactful and emotive. It helps clear from the body what the mind has identified and it also brings information from the body to the mind for continued processing.
