LPC, 5 years of experience
I am an experienced therapist specializing in support for the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals facing anxiety, depression, and trauma. With over 20 years in mental health, I use a relational, feminist approach that values the role of past relationships in shaping our present selves. My work centers on gender dysphoria and LGBTQIA+ identity, offering a safe, affirming space for growth and healing. My career began with a decade at a state psychiatric institution, where I saw gaps in compassionate care, leading me to pursue deeper, more client-centered therapy. After a brief exploration outside of mental health, I returned to earn a BA in psychology (2017), an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2020), and am currently pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I am dedicated to helping clients overcome obstacles and achieve transformative change through a blend of evidence-based and integrative methods, including mindfulness, yoga, herbalism, and aromatherapy. Together, we’ll create a personalized path to healing, tailored to meet your unique needs.
In the first session, clients can expect a warm, compassionate environment that focuses on creating a trusting, open space to share their stories. I’ll ask some initial questions to learn more about your background, goals, and what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore what you hope to achieve, and I’ll share how my approach—which combines humanistic, feminist, and cognitive-behavioral principles—can support you on this journey. As we start, we’ll discuss how past experiences and relationships shape your present challenges and self-view, particularly through a feminist lens, which recognizes how societal roles or expectations might impact your experience. In line with humanistic principles, I’ll focus on building a genuine connection where you feel seen and heard, valuing your unique experiences and strengths.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to create a compassionate, affirming space where clients feel genuinely heard and valued. With over 20 years of experience, particularly in serving the LGBTQIA+ community and those managing anxiety, depression, and trauma, I offer culturally informed, empathetic support tailored to each client’s needs. My approach draws from humanistic, feminist, and cognitive-behavioral theories, which allows me to view each client as a unique individual with their own strengths and experiences. My background in humanism helps me connect with clients authentically, while my feminist orientation supports a deeper understanding of how social, cultural, and relational factors may impact their journey. Additionally, CBT provides structured tools for managing current struggles and reframing limiting thought patterns.
I am best positioned to serve LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating issues related to identity, gender dysphoria, and mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach is rooted in over 20 years of experience and emphasizes relational, feminist therapy tailored to each client's unique story. I provide an affirming, supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore personal challenges, including those stemming from past relationships that impact present-day experiences. With a blend of traditional and holistic practices like mindfulness, yoga, and aromatherapy, I am well-suited to clients seeking a compassionate, integrative approach that addresses the whole person. My ideal clients are those ready for transformative work and looking for a therapist who understands the complexities of LGBTQIA+ experiences within a culturally sensitive and empathetic framework.
