What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Through our interactions, I hope that you will find a safe place where we can explore your concerns and develop a plan that will have you actively pursuing your goals and living the life you want. Together, we can undo false belief systems and unhealthy habits. It has been my honor to guide hundreds of people toward the life that they want: a healthier, happier, more peaceful life that enables them to do what they want without being hindered by barriers such as communication difficulties, depression, stress and anxiety. I strive to support, encourage, educate, and empower my clients. I encourage lots of feedback from my clients, and I am very open to constructive criticism, because I want this process to be helpful and useful for you. Together, we will create an individualized treatment plan that empowers you to overcome obstacles and create specific, achievable tasks that will put you on the a solid path to meet your goals. Therapy is an investment in time, money and emotional energy, and I look forward to joining you in helping to ensure that your investment pays off! If you are seeking services for your child: Parents/guardians will be asked to take an active role in their children’s counseling, including being present for, and participating in, at least the first 10 minutes of each scheduled session in order to participate in regular consultation regarding my goals for my family's growth, so that your provider can get a full sense of the concerns and needs of the family.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapeutic style is strengths-based, meaning that I will work with you to identify your strengths and the strategies that have worked well for you in the past, and nurture those skills to their highest potential. I am committed to getting to know you as an individual, and working hard to earn your trust and discover exactly what changes you hope to make in your life. You are the expert in your own life and in what you need, and the pace in which you would like to go, and it's my honor to adapt my counseling style to your needs and help you create the life that you want. I may "push" you out of your comfort zone at times in order to challenge you to meet the goals you have set for yourself, but I will provide you with a safe environment and will always be empathetic and patient and put you first.

My treatment methods

Family Therapy

Our relationships impact all aspects of our mental health! Strong relationships provide a support system during tough times, reducing feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression. Positive interactions with family members boost mood and increase feelings of happiness. Healthy relationships contribute to higher levels of life satisfaction and a more positive outlook. If you are struggling in your relationships, I am happy to work with you on learning the necessary skills to communicate effectively to advocate for your needs.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Unlike a lot of talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy is a problem-solving therapy aimed at helping you achieve your goals. The goals can be anything from getting a job to finding a romantic partner to reducing feelings of anxiety or depression. Once you meet your goal, you and I will collaboratively decide whether to modify your goal, add another goal, or end treatment.

Couples Counseling

Attaining and maintaining healthy communication and conflict resolution skills is key to all our relationships: With our spouses, partners, children, extended family members, and work relationships. Real life brings real-life stressors, such as adjusting to a new life change (like moving) or a medical condition; Changes and challenges that come with aging; Death and grief; Relationship conflicts, such as parent-child conflict or sibling conflict; Getting along with in-laws; and many others. One of the most common issues that can impact your mood is misunderstanding your loved one's words and/ or intent. Learning more effective communication skills can increase your connectedness to your spouse and others, which in turn may help you feel connected and valued, fostering a sense of purpose.

Gottman method

I am Level II trained in the Gottman Method, and utilize this system extensively with people who are struggling to communicate with their partner. The Gottman Method is unique in its focus on perpetual versus resolvable conflicts. Understanding this difference is part of how this form of therapy can help couples positively change their relationship. By learning new ways to deal with perpetual conflicts, couples can replace negative conflict patterns with healthier ones.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Training (PCIT) is a type of therapy that involves both parents/guardians and their young children. PCIT often feels like play therapy, but the parent/guardian(s) provide the intervention instead of the therapist, which allows for more generalization of the skills between therapy sessions and after the therapeutic relationship is over. After all, parents/guardians are the ones who will see their children grow into the amazing adults they will be, and the therapist is only here as a brief part of that journey.
