Hi my name is Tairah. First, I admire your ability to start your journey, and I’m here to guide you through the process. I specialize in working with individuals navigating through life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I take a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. I encourage you to connect with me to establish a path of healing and self-discovery, that best aligns with your needs.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will explore your life story and what brings you to therapy. Therapy is a process, and we’ll continue to build our work together over time. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about your first appointment. We’ll take it one step at a time, and I’m here to guide you through each step of the process. We will also be able to assess and determine if this match is a good fit/match for your personal needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes me different is that I will truly meet you where you are every time we interact. I will always stride to provide a safe, warm, and friendly environment to best aid in our therapeutic relationship. I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment, while also instilling moments of laughter and joy to make you feel comfortable and safe. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner, while holding you accountable towards your goals. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be understanding and encouraging, while still holding you towards being the best you that I know you can and will be!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with individuals who are managing anxiety, depressive thoughts, life transitions, and those seeking support for self-esteem and interpersonal issues, as well as healing. Whether you’re working through trauma, building coping skills, or exploring your personal goals, I’ll work with you to create a plan to best serve your needs. I believe that therapy is a partnership. Together, we’ll identify and establish goals, making smaller goals/steps to assist you in fulfilling your desired outcomes. As we work together, your goals may change, and with open communication, we can assess what your needs are throughout our time together at any time. I’m here to provide you with the support and tools you need to create the life you envision for yourself.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I would use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, teaching them to reframe cognitive distortions and develop healthier thinking patterns. In sessions, we’d practice coping skills like thought records and role playing to reduce distress and support lasting change.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I intend to utilize ACT to guide my clients in noticing and accepting difficult thoughts and feelings that they experience without judgment. We will instead focus on how to adjust to changes/challenges and prioritize personal values/goals. Together, we will create a plan to help you live a more meaningful, mindful, and purposeful life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I would implement DBT by teaching clients skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness to better manage intense emotions and relationships. I would focus on validating your feelings and experiences while also encouraging change, and challenging you to see things objectively. I would encourage the use of "homework" including often using diary cards/journaling and practical skill coaching to process emotions in real time.

Trauma Informed Care

I believe in ensuring a trauma-informed approach by fostering a safe, trusting, a calm environment. I believe that our work is a collaboration and intend to be sensitive to possible traumatic experiences you may have had, even if they’re not disclosed. I would tailor interventions to avoid re-traumatization, empower clients in decision-making, confidence, and build on their strengths and resilience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I would incorporate solution-focused techniques by helping my clients identify exceptions to their problems or moments that are positive/going right. I would encourage my clients to envision preferred outcomes, emphasizing their current resources, skills and successes. Our sessions would focus on setting concrete, achievable goals and using scaling questions to track progress and instill hope.
