Hello! I am a resourceful and trustworthy therapist, licensed for 26 years. I specialize in adults struggling with mood/anxiety/trauma/grief/life transition/psychosis/personality/substance use difficulties. I use an integrated, trauma-informed, resiliency-enhancing approach that includes aspects of existential, cognitive-emotional-behavioral, and solution-focused therapeutic practices. I find that in the healing process, a fundamental issue is enhancing one’s relationship with self. I’ve helped many people to build understanding of and compassion toward themselves, and develop strategies that helped to improve their life circumstances. I encourage you to trust in your ability to learn, heal, and grow—you’ve got this, you can do this, and you deserve to find your way. I look forward to speaking with you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I look forward to meeting with you. Our first session will be about getting to know each other and beginning our collaboration toward improving your health and achieving your goals. When we start, I will have some housekeeping issues to discuss and then it's important that you fill me in on what has happened that is affecting your quality of life. I will want to know about your strengths, symptoms, history, and current circumstances. I will be interested in listening, and I will ask questions accordingly. We will discuss what goals work best for you--what you want to see happen, and will make suggestions as well. It is very important that you are the central focus of our discussions and that you get to feel comfortable in the discussions that we have. You can count on me to listen carefully, ask respectful and collaborative questions, give you applicable information when needed, and let you know about any concerns I may have. My focus will consistently be on your wellbeing, choice, agency, integration of history, skill building and safety.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I'm skilled, resourceful, welcoming, creative, compassionate, informative, and supportive. I'm interested in helping address past dynamics/traumas/beliefs in a way that is unique and useful to you as an individual so that you can find your voice, use it well, and build on your strengths toward healthful and successful life strategies. I listen respectfully and closely to what you are saying. My primary interest is in helping you build a positive relationship with yourself; to enhance your self worth, agency and confidence in ability to healthfully manage your life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am interested in partnering with you in building more healthful strategies to be able to move forward safely, positively, and confidently. I am an integrated therapist, meaning that I draw from many different therapeutic approaches, including: trauma-informed, harm-reduction, person-centered, humanistic, existential, solution-focused, strength-based, motivational, experiential, compassion-focused, mindfulness, and cognitive-emotional-behavioral. It's a priority for me that your therapy experience is tailored to you. So when it comes to my "ideal client," it's about your willingness to find ways to integrate your own history and current circumstances toward the future that you are aiming to achieve. I'm well-versed in the life dynamics, culture, rights, perspectives, and skills involved in negotiating obstacles and embracing wellness. Other than that, I've been doing this long enough that I really "specialize" in people who want to get to know and embrace themselves. In regard to a list of specialties, here goes: Adults, Anxiety, Trauma, Mood Disorder, Psychosis, Personality Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, LGBTQIA+, Life Transitions, Women's/Men's/Human's Issues, Family Dynamic Issues. In particular, I am an ally/advocate of people with these identities and/or circumstances: BIPOC, Body Positivity, Cancer, Educators, Social Workers, First/Second Gen American/Immigrant Parents, HIV/AIDS, Immune-Disorders, LGBTQIA+, Military/Veterans, Non-Binary, Open Relationships/Non-Monogamy, Police/Fire/First Responders, Queer, Racial Justice, Recovery/12 Step, Sex-Positive/Kink, Single Parent, Transgender, Vegan, and hopefully, you!
