Christina Cabral
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who strives to create a supportive, compassionate space where individuals, couples, and families can feel seen, heard, and understood. I’ve also navigated my own personal challenges and have sought therapy myself, which deeply shapes the empathy and presence I bring into the room.
I’ve also navigated my own personal challenges and have sought therapy myself, which deeply shapes the empathy and presence I bring into the room.
Additionally, I am a mother, and I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can be to balance relationships, parenting, work, and personal needs. When clinically appropriate, I use thoughtful self-disclosure to help normalize your experiences and foster a genuine, human connection. My approach is relational and insight-oriented, and I work collaboratively with clients to build self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier patterns of connection.
First session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a supportive, low-pressure space. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and any concerns or questions you might have. You don’t need to have everything figured out, many people come in feeling unsure of where to start, and that’s completely okay. I’ll also ask some background questions to better understand your story, relationships, and current stressors. Together, we’ll begin to identify patterns, goals, and what support might look like for you moving forward. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and a little less alone. We’ll move at your pace, and we’ll build the work together.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and safe enough to be vulnerable. I bring warmth, empathy, and authenticity into the room, which allows clients to explore difficult emotions without fear of judgment. My approach is relational and insight-oriented, helping clients understand how past experiences and internalized beliefs shape their present struggles. I am particularly skilled at helping clients identify patterns in their relationships, increase emotional awareness, and build self-compassion. I balance deep, reflective work with practical tools to support anxiety management, emotional regulation, and healthier communication. As someone who has engaged in my own therapeutic journey, I value growth, accountability, and humility in my work. Clients often share that they feel both supported and gently challenged, leading to meaningful and lasting change.
Ideal clients
I work best with adolescents and adults (approximately ages 15–50) who are navigating anxiety, emotional distress, depression, neurodivergence, and major life transitions. If you feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, it sounds like we might be the right fit to work together. I’m especially well-positioned to support individuals who are seeking greater emotional awareness, healthier ways of coping, and more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others. Whether you’re adjusting to a new phase of life, processing long-standing emotional patterns, or learning to navigate the world as a neurodivergent person, I offer a compassionate, collaborative space to help you build insight, resilience, and self-acceptance.
Treatment methods
Psychodynamic
I have experience utilizing a psychodynamic treatment approach to help clients explore how early relational experiences, internalized beliefs, and unconscious processes shape current emotional functioning and interpersonal patterns. In my practice, I attend to recurring relational themes, affective patterns, and defensive processes that emerge in clients’ narratives and within the therapeutic relationship. I use the therapeutic alliance as a primary vehicle for change, providing a consistent holding environment in which clients can safely explore vulnerable emotions, unresolved conflicts, and patterns of self-criticism or relational expectations. Clinically, I support clients in increasing insight into how past experiences influence present-day anxiety, relational distress, and affect regulation. I attend to transference and countertransference as meaningful data that can illuminate clients’ relational templates and internal working models. Interventions include facilitating affective awareness, gently interpreting defenses when appropriate, supporting the development of reflective functioning, and fostering greater self-compassion and integration of emotional experience. I integrate psychodynamic work with present-focused support to help clients build capacity for emotional tolerance and relational clarity while navigating current stressors.
