Hi! I am a licensed clinical social worker with ten plus years working with individuals, families and children facing mental health concerns or life stress. I use a compassionate and strength based approach to help you or your child identify what changes you would like in your life and provide a safe place to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to make long lasting changes and embrace your full uniqueness! I believe healing is a journey, a coming back towards self, and it does not have to be done alone. We work together to give you or your child the tools and confidence to equip you on your journey. We tap into your inner resilience and build compassion for various parts of self, past experiences and lessons, while setting achievable goals with a practical guided approach towards your best future.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we will focus on getting to know one another and answering any questions you may have about counseling, as well as identifying areas you want support with. I will also gather information about your history as well as present symptoms and we will establish some short term and long term goals. We will talk about my approach in therapy so that you can best determine whether it it is a good fit for you and/or your family. You will find a comfortable and safe place to share and process your feelings, thoughts and experiences. I aim for you to leave your session with a renewed sense of hope, self awareness and confidence. I enjoy looking deep at what brings one to their current situation and empowering individuals to make the positive lasting changes they want in their lives.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have extensive experience in the field of mental health with adults and children that has provided me with the clinical skills to best support you. These experiences include acting as outpatient therapist for over seven years, clinical supervisor of other professionals and interns for eight years, clinical director of mental health programming for four years and work in a variety of settings including not only private practice but home/community settings, foster care and the county community service board. My experience and background helps me further provide individualized treatment suited to your needs as well as integration with the systems at hand. Some of the past trainings and certifications I have completed include ABA behavioral training, trauma focused treatment, CBT, DBT, mindfulness based work, child and play therapy and clinical supervision, among others. I am also a registered clinical supervisor with the board for other professionals seeking their LCSW and have a passion for helping build the next generation of social workers.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help individuals explore the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are impacting their lives. We work together to develop self awareness and radical compassion while building the skills necessary to change patterns of behavior and thinking.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I believe in a holistic approach to therapy which honors the mind-body-spirit connection and incorporates mindfulness based skills as part of healing.

Trauma Informed Care

I believe in trauma informed therapy and include trauma assessment and treatment as part of my work.

Compassion Focused

I am able to help individuals on a journey through self to help one uncover how and what past experiences, attachment patterns, and subconcious narratives or beliefs may be shaping or impacting their present reality. We use our session time together, as a platform for one to freely explore the root of one's challenges, in order to process and release what is needed. I believe deeply in the power of connection and unconditional support in therapy and hope to offer a space where you can laugh, cry, and feel seen and heard.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Kids primary language is play. I incorporate a variety of play and creative interventions in sessions to help children process thoughts and feelings and learn to develop coping skills, impulse control and positive decision making, among other skills. Play or art can be therapist led or child led and helps children develop a sense of mastery over their life and build towards making positive behavioral gains. We also look at underlying causes for difficult behaviors and symptoms together, examining family systems, function of behaviors, types of reinforcement, along with care for internal/bioligical factors as well as external/systematic influences on your child. In today’s times children are encountering more and more stressors and our sessions are a safe place for your child to learn about feelings, build their ability to communicate effectively and process what is needed while building adaptive emotional regulation skills. Parent and family counseling, psychoeducational support and behavioral modification is included as well.
