Greetings! I am Amina Omar Ali and I congratulate you for making this important step in changing your life for the better. It can be difficult decision and the work that follows in not easy, but with an open mind, and practice, you will get where you want to be. My job is to facilitate your journey into self discovery, and help you find and attain what you want. Therapy is about you, and the work you do will determine the success you have in therapy. Let me assure you that coming to therapy does not mean you are "crazy" or weak. It takes courage and strength to open yourself up to a stranger and do that deep dive into your vulnerable self. Be proud you have made this choice, and recognize that with a little help you can change your life.
In your first session, we will get to know each other, I will ask many questions, and we will have discussion about what you want to address and your goals for therapy. I will often give actionable items for you to practice outside of session.
I am working in this field for over 25 years and have worked with diverse demographics, worked in case management, and social services. I enjoy getting to know my patients and help them fit the pieces of the puzzle together. I feel that loving oneself is pertinent toward healing.
My specialty is working with older adults, but I enjoy working with all adults to help understand themselves and find the inner peace they want. My ideal patient is one who is ready to do the work and recognises that change can be difficult but will yield amazing results. I am ready to do the work and therapy only works if the patient is ready as well.
Recoding the brain to change the thought process, the behaviours and emotional responses.
Family dynamics and environment plays an important role in shaping our lives and influencing our thoughts.
Questions based to determine what is the patient wants and how to attain that, while the therapist only facilitates the process.
Facing trauma and recognizing the roles of all involved, relieving guilt and understanding, are successful ways to change thinking and emotions about traumatic events.
As a Indo-Caribbean woman, I understand the need to have a therapist who can relate to cultural needs, lifestyle, and familial relations.

She listens and helps find solutions or gives examples of why and how. It is helpful. She doesn’t pressure to take the approach or solutions she gives. Very flexible and understanding.
