I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I am also a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate in the state of North Carolina. I received my Master of Arts from Montreat College in 2022. I have experience working in addiction counseling and mental health counseling. I help individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and/or addiction develop new patterns of thinking and behavior.
First session
Our first session will start with an introduction and will cover what you can expect during sessions. We will then examine the specific problem you face, and some background information related to the problem. This information will help me to create what is called a "treatment plan" for our future sessions.
Strengths
I have worked with individuals from early to late adulthood and various walks of life. With such experiences, I have gained a greater understanding of how to adjust the application of the cognitive behavioral therapy principles to the needs of the individual.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals ready and willing to do the work it takes to make the changes they desire. Life can be challenging at times. Sometimes we may need someone to help us sort through our thoughts and feelings. Maybe we need to work through how to make some life changes. I work with clients to examine the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how to make changes in thoughts and behaviors. Cognitive and behavioral changes have the potential to bring great growth.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help clients explore the link between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I help clients learn to use tools to examine and challenge thoughts patterns and make behavioral changes. Clients work to improve functioning, and emotional states, through the use of cognitive and behavioral work done inside and outside of sessions.
Motivational Interviewing
I work with clients to increase motivation for change through identifying values and developing values-based goals.
Existential
I use logotherapy with clients to aid clients in processing meaning and life purpose.
