Hello and welcome! I’m glad you've taken this important step towards seeking support. My name is Desiree, and I am a Licensed Clinical Counselor with years of experience working with individuals who, like you, may be feeling overwhelmed, disappointed, uncertain, hurt, or angry. Whether you’re dealing with past trauma or navigating the next steps in your life following a transition, I am here to walk this journey with you.
I understand that seeking help for mental health can be a challenging and deeply personal decision. It’s important to know that you’re not alone in this. Many people face similar struggles, If you’re looking for a place to start or just someone to talk to, I’m here.
As a clinician, I have worked with individuals, families, and groups of various ages and backgrounds in clinics, colleges, and schools. These experiences have helped me build strong relationships and understand different issues from multiple viewpoints. I use creative methods for interventions and develop helpful resources for clients facing challenges on their journey to wellness.
I provide counseling services for individuals, families, couples, and adolescents aged 13 and older. I recognize that you are the expert on your unique circumstances, and I aim to understand your situation through our collaboration. My experience includes assisting clients who require support in navigating ongoing challenges related to legal matters, such as loss of custody, select reasons for court-ordered therapy, and comprehensive clinical assessments.
In my clinical practice, I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). By examining our inner dialogue, thoughts, and the narratives we tell ourselves, we can gain insight into our beliefs and how they influence our behavior, whether consciously or unconsciously. CBT is a powerful therapeutic tool that helps clients discover themselves and learn new approaches to navigate their lives.
Mindfulness involves being present in the moment and understanding what is necessary for the here and now. We frequently become so engrossed in daily tasks that we let these responsibilities turn into fear, worry, and overwhelming stress. Therefore, developing healthy habits that keep us grounded, enable problem-solving, and allow us to progress is crucial for wellness.
Addressing issues directly has its merits. The ability to face, confront, and tackle problems head-on can be challenging, but it is crucial for gaining an understanding of the situations we encounter, acknowledging their impact on our lives, and then taking the necessary steps to move forward.
Life presents us with experiences that shape our future and alter our perception of the present. Confronting trauma, examining the circumstances, and discovering ways to cope are daunting tasks. Yet, they lead to the reward of becoming a recognizable self, transformed and in command of one's life and direction.
Mental health and wellness intersect with the tenets of Christian faith in profound ways. The Bible often provides affirming and encouraging guidance that lays the foundation for techniques and coping skills used in counseling. Christian counseling is an approach that offers mental and spiritual fulfillment.
