Bintou Diaby
It's great to meet you. I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a background in both critical care nursing and high-acuity psychiatric settings. I provide compassionate, personalized psychiatric care for women navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, burnout, mood disorders, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, collaborative, and thoughtful, with a strong focus on helping patients feel genuinely heard and understood rather than rushed through appointments or reduced to a checklist of symptoms. I work especially well with high-functioning women who are used to “holding it all together” for everyone else while quietly struggling internally with stress, overthinking, irritability, emotional exhaustion, self-doubt, or difficulty slowing their minds down. Many of my patients come to treatment after spending years trying to push through on their own, often feeling disconnected from themselves, chronically overwhelmed, or stuck in survival mode.
First session
Think of our first session as hitting the "reset" button together. We'll talk about what brought you here, your goals, and how your mental health shows up in your life. I'll listen closely, answer your questions, and together we'll start building a plan that actually works for you. You should leave the interaction feeling heard and understood. My patients often tell me they feel as though they have "gained a teammate in their healing," which is exactly the point.
Strengths
My treatment style combines comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, supportive therapy, and practical coping strategies tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. I believe mental health care should feel intentional, human, and individualized — not one-size-fits-all. I also recognize the important role that hormones, relationships, lifestyle stressors, and major life transitions can play in emotional wellbeing, particularly for women. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where patients feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing without fear of judgment. Together, we work toward improving emotional balance, daily functioning, self-understanding, and overall quality of life in a way that feels realistic and sustainable.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve women who appear high functioning on the outside while internally struggling with anxiety, ADHD, burnout, depression, mood instability, emotional overwhelm, or chronic stress. Many of my patients are used to constantly caring for others, pushing through exhaustion, and “holding it all together” while quietly feeling mentally and emotionally depleted. I work especially well with women seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that goes beyond rushed medication-focused appointments. My approach resonates with patients looking for a provider who takes time to understand the bigger picture, including life stressors, emotional patterns, relationships, and the unique challenges women face throughout different stages of life.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
I incorporate principles of the OARS method, a core communication approach used in Motivational Interviewing, to help create a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental treatment environment. OARS stands for open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing. This approach helps patients feel genuinely heard while encouraging deeper self-awareness, emotional insight, and motivation for meaningful change. By focusing on curiosity, empathy, and collaboration rather than criticism or pressure, I aim to help patients explore their experiences more openly, strengthen confidence in their ability to grow, and feel more engaged in their treatment process.
