If you've been feeling anxious, down, or stuck in old patterns, you don't have to go through it alone. My name is Anna Vaught, and I've been a licensed social worker / therapist for 12+ years, serving clients struggling with a variety of life challenges. I consider it an honor and a privilege to walk with you as you choose to start or continue your healing journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I start with building a client-centered space that creates safety and is conducive to challenging what holds you back or impedes a healthy mind and body. With that foundation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that is meaningful to you and aligns with your needs and values. My sessions are warm and supportive yet structured, giving you space to explore your emotions while building practical tools for daily life.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is connected to developing a deep understanding of what brought you to therapy. I draw from a variety of therapeutic theories and approaches and tailor each session to fit your goals and needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all model. I believe that all clients want to heal, and it starts with being heard and validated, sitting with deep emotional weight without rushing to 'fix' it. Clients often acknowledge that in our time together, they've been able to 'take the mask off and be real,' leading to a discovery of small details and patterns they haven't seen in themselves.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck and is just daring enough to believe that things could change. They may be struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, low motivation, emotional numbness, or overwhelming feelings that may have never been fully acknowledged or healed. I love working with veterans, first-responders, young adults to senior citizens. It's even OK if you don't quite have the words to explain what you're feeling - we'll figure it out! My favorite client is one who is willing to explore change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts can create reality, emotions, and behaviors. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we may spend some time exploring the negative or distorted elements and replacing them with more balanced, adaptive, and supportive ways of thinking.

EMDR

I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing) to help clients get to the heart of what causes distress and 'stuck-ness' in the mind and body. I use EMDR to not only treat trauma but also anxiety, anger, depression, grief and loss, and self-self / self-worth challenges.

Faith based therapy

As part of the client-centered approach, a client's faith, beliefs, and practices can be integrated into our session. I use a variety of Christian resources to aid in restoring the heart, mind, and soul.

Humanistic

The Humanistic approach aligns well with my overall view of how I see the client - you are the expert on your story. Our sessions can explore how your past experiences influence your feelings, thoughts, and actions in the present moment. As you guide, I come alongside you to help you overcome barriers to personal growth, foster self-awareness, and empower you to become the best version of yourself.

Strength-Based

Each of us has existing abilities, resilience, and resources that have enabled us to make it this far! Instead of disregarding what already exists, in therapy, I use a strength-based approach to help the client identify what's working and then build on those strengths to support our work.
