Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, you can expect a supportive, relaxed, and nonjudgmental space where we begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the process. We’ll talk through your background, any challenges you’re facing, and begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you. I may also provide an overview of how I use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy so you have a clear understanding of what our work together can look like. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to discuss everything at once. My goal is to create a safe environment where you feel comfortable, heard, and respected from the very beginning. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer picture of your needs and begin outlining next steps, including a plan tailored to support your growth and progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, meeting you where you are while also helping you move forward with clarity and purpose. I combine evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with a practical, results-oriented focus. This allows me to help you not only gain insight, but also develop real-life strategies you can use to manage challenges, improve emotional well-being, and create lasting change. I also bring a strong background in substance use treatment, crisis intervention, and workplace wellness, which allows me to effectively support clients navigating high-stress environments, life transitions, and behavior change. I am skilled at helping clients work through ambivalence, build motivation, and take meaningful steps toward their goals. For clients who value faith, I offer Christian Counseling, integrating spiritual principles alongside clinical techniques to support holistic healing. Clients often find that I am both supportive and direct—I will encourage you, but I will also challenge you in a way that promotes growth, accountability, and confidence. My goal is to help you leave each session feeling empowered, equipped, and one step closer to the life you want to live.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready for change, even if they feel unsure about where to begin. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained, and you’re looking for a safe space to process your experiences while also gaining practical tools to move forward. I am best positioned to support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, and substance use concerns. Many of my clients are trying to break unhelpful patterns, improve their emotional well-being, and regain a sense of control and balance in their lives. You may be seeking clarity, healthier coping strategies, or support in making meaningful decisions. I also work well with clients who may feel ambivalent about change. Using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused techniques, I help you explore your thoughts and behaviors, strengthen your motivation, and take realistic, achievable steps toward your goals. For those who value faith, I offer the option to incorporate Christian counseling into our work together. This allows us to address challenges from both a clinical and spiritual perspective, supporting healing that aligns with your beliefs and values. My ideal client is open to growth, willing to engage in the process, and interested in developing skills they can use beyond the therapy session. Whether you are starting your healing journey or continuing the work, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, empowered, and encouraged to move forward.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a foundational method in my work with clients. CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop practical strategies to shift them, leading to healthier emotional responses and more effective coping. In our sessions, I take a collaborative and goal-oriented approach. I help clients recognize patterns such as negative self-talk, overthinking, and distorted beliefs, and we work together to challenge and reframe those thoughts. I also incorporate behavioral strategies like building healthy routines, developing coping skills, and gradually facing difficult situations in a supportive and manageable way. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel empowered to grow. I believe therapy should not only provide insight but also equip you with tools you can use in your everyday life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or stress, I will walk alongside you as you build resilience and move toward meaningful change. I also honor the importance of faith and personal values in the healing process. For clients who desire it, I integrate faith-based principles alongside therapeutic techniques to support holistic growth—mind, body, and spirit.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support individuals navigating substance use and other behavior changes. I understand that making changes around substance use can feel overwhelming, especially when there are mixed feelings about stopping or reducing use. My role is not to judge or pressure you, but to walk alongside you as you explore what change means for your life. MI is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps you identify your personal reasons for change and build confidence in your ability to take meaningful steps forward. Together, we’ll explore both the benefits and the challenges of substance use, helping you resolve ambivalence and move toward decisions that align with your goals and values. In our sessions, I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and supportive feedback to help you: Clarify your goals related to substance use and recovery Explore triggers, patterns, and underlying factors Strengthen motivation for change Build confidence and commitment to healthier choices I also integrate practical strategies to help you manage cravings, cope with stress, and develop healthier routines. Whether your goal is reduction, abstinence, or simply gaining more control, I will support you in creating a path that feels realistic and sustainable. My goal is to empower you to make changes that are meaningful to you—at your pace—while providing a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for growth and healing.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients create meaningful change by focusing on strengths, solutions, and what’s already working in their lives. This approach is future-focused and goal-oriented, helping you move forward without feeling stuck in the past. In our work together, I will support you in identifying clear, achievable goals and exploring the steps needed to reach them. Rather than focusing solely on problems, we’ll highlight your existing strengths, past successes, and inner resources. Even small changes can lead to significant progress, and SFBT helps build momentum toward the life you want. I use techniques such as: Goal-setting to define what success looks like for you Exploring “exceptions” (times when the problem was less intense or absent) Scaling questions to track progress and build motivation Identifying practical, immediate steps toward change This approach is especially helpful for clients who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or looking for short-term, focused support. It can be effective for a variety of concerns, including stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and substance use. My goal is to provide a supportive and empowering space where you feel encouraged, capable, and equipped to make positive changes. I believe you already have many of the strengths needed for growth—my role is to help you uncover and use them in a way that moves you forward with confidence.

Psychoeducation

I incorporate Psychoeducation into my work to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I believe that knowledge is empowering—when you understand what you’re experiencing and why, it becomes easier to manage challenges and make informed decisions about your well-being. In our sessions, I provide clear, practical information about mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and substance use. I also help you understand how different factors—like thoughts, habits, environment, and life experiences—can impact your emotional health. Psychoeducation may include: Learning about symptoms and how they affect daily functioning Understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors Identifying triggers and patterns Exploring coping strategies and healthy ways to respond to stress Gaining insight into the recovery and healing process I present information in a way that is easy to understand and directly applicable to your life. My goal is not to overwhelm you, but to equip you with tools and knowledge you can use both in and outside of sessions. I often integrate psychoeducation with approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused strategies to ensure that you not only gain insight, but also learn how to apply what you’ve learned in meaningful ways. My goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and confident as you take steps toward healing and personal growth.

Christian Counseling

I offer Christian Counseling for clients who want to integrate their faith into the healing process. I believe that emotional and spiritual well-being are deeply connected, and for many individuals, faith can be a powerful source of strength, guidance, and restoration. In our work together, I create a safe and respectful space where you can explore life’s challenges through both a clinical and faith-based lens. I integrate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused strategies while also incorporating biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual reflection—based on your comfort level and preferences. Christian counseling may include: Exploring how faith and beliefs influence thoughts, emotions, and decisions Using scripture and spiritual insight to challenge negative thinking and build hope Strengthening identity, purpose, and resilience through a faith-centered perspective Processing life challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, and substance use Encouraging spiritual growth alongside emotional healing My approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and tailored to your individual journey. Whether you are feeling spiritually disconnected, facing life transitions, or seeking alignment between your faith and mental health, I will walk alongside you with support, respect, and understanding. My goal is to help you experience healing that is holistic—mind, body, and spirit—while empowering you to move forward with clarity, purpose, and renewed strength.
