New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Ayanna McFarlane, LCSW, and I am a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping women, children, adolescents, and adults navigate life's challenges with compassion and practical support. My practice provides a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, strengthen self-esteem, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to help each client feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their journey.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and the goals you'd like to work toward. There is no pressure to share everything at once—I move at your pace and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered from the very beginning.
I bring empathy, authenticity, and a calm, compassionate presence to every session. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and comfortable being themselves. I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach, helping clients recognize their resilience while developing practical tools to manage life's challenges. What sets my approach apart is my ability to meet clients where they are without judgment. I tailor treatment to each individual's unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. By combining evidence-based interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with genuine connection and encouragement, I help clients build confidence, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.
My ideal clients are women, adolescents, and children who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. They may be experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, or difficulty managing emotions. Whether they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want additional support, they are looking for a safe space to process their experiences and develop healthier ways of coping. Together, we work toward building confidence, improving emotional well-being, strengthening relationships, and developing practical skills that promote resilience and long-term personal growth. Clients do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy—they simply need a willingness to take the first step.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges. Using CBT, I teach practical coping skills that clients can apply in their daily lives to manage anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and other emotional or behavioral concerns. Therapy is collaborative, goal-oriented, and focused on helping clients build resilience, improve problem-solving skills, regulate emotions, and make lasting, positive changes. I tailor each treatment plan to meet the unique needs, strengths, and goals of every client while providing a supportive, nonjudgmental environment that encourages growth and healing.
