Hello, I am Noemi Flores, but most call me Mimi. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and am working with clients statewide via telehealth. I received my Master's of Social Work degree at Loma Linda University. I work with clients with anxiety, depression, stress, and past traumatic experiences utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Music Therapy techniques, and other therapeutic modalities.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will try to get to know you better and talk about how you have been feeling lately. I try to see what you like to do and build a rapport with you. I like to get to know the person before assuming what will work for you because everyone is different.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a therapist are that I am a calm, understanding, genuine, nonjudgemental, and open-minded person, which allows people to feel comfortable and feel like they have a safe space. I feel like I have had my own struggles while growing up and believe those experiences have allowed me to empathize with people and try to put myself in their shoes to try to understand them. I hope that we can collaborate together on this journey!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use techniques from the CBT model when a client needs help with processing thoughts and feelings and redirecting negative thoughts by using worksheets or visual material.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

This model helps my clients to be present in the here-and-now, be able to reset the mind, and allow the mind to feel safe in the moment. I like to incorporate coping skills and relaxation techniques with my clients.

Psychoeducation

I believe providing psychoeducation to my clients is useful as it allows the person to understand what they might be going through and how our mind and bodies work.
