Barbara Majoros
Welcome! I'm Barbara Majoros, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I place great value on helping clients navigate life's most difficult challenges, including grief, anxiety, and depression. Many times, acknowledging you need support takes real courage. I strive to create a safe place to focus on healing and growth to relieve those concerns.
My approach is to work together with my clients to set goals at a pace that feels comfortable to them.
First session
Your initial session will focus on gathering information about your mental health symptoms, history, and personal goals. Subsequent sessions will explore the reasons you sought therapy. Together, we will examine your thoughts and feelings, while developing effective strategies to help you find relief from distressing experiences.
Strengths
My approach is to work together with my clients to set goals at a pace that feels comfortable to them. I provide active listening so clients feel heard, valued and understood. I give non-judgmental insights and guidance in recognizing habits and patterns that may be holding them back, as well as actionable coping strategies to manage symptoms and improve daily life.
Ideal clients
Client with symptoms of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, life transitions and bereavement. Their goals are to reduce or eliminate symptoms in order to improve their lives. There may be concerns about finding the right therapist and ensuring that they feel comfortable in therapy sessions. Therapy sessions are voluntary and client feedback is always welcome. Open communication is vital in order for clients to feel safe and motivated to continue sessions.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) centers on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We look at how an event can trigger automatic thoughts, which directly shapes emotional and physical feelings. This prompts action or avoidance. The sessions are goal-focused and includes discussions on cognitive and behavioral techniques, home-practice exercises and setting skill-building tasks for the coming week.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) teaches individuals to learn to accept difficult emotions rather than fighting them, while committing to value-driven actions . This ultimately builds psychological flexibility.
