Hello. I have been a licensed MFT for over 20 years. I enjoy helping my clients reach their own goals by offering support, evidence based strategies and tools and even a little bit of humor. I work creatively and flexibly to meet the needs of my clients. My experience includes multiple populations such as teens, domestic violence victims and perpetrators, the elderly and substance use. I have also worked in various environments such as non-profits, the County of Ventura, school based work and private practice.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I take a client centered approach- looking at where the client is currently at, what their goals are and their readiness for change. I talk with each client about what therapy is, how I work as a therapist, what I can offer them and even what I can't. I help clients to understand how therapy is like going to the gym- the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a therapist include having compassion and tolerance for others, my desire to help people, the creativity and humor I use with clients and my length of experience as a licensed clinician.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My many years of experience working with multiple populations in mental health make it possible for me to help people dealing with a wide variety of mental health issues. The main 3 focus areas of my practice are listed below. I have respect for all members of our human race regardless of race, religion or how they identify.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is the mail modality I use. This model is an evidence based treatment where we will look specifically at your symptoms and use time tested strategies to help minimize them. We will look at how your thoughts and feelings are effecting your behaviors.

Couples Counseling

I have been working with couples since 2003. I provide a compassionate approach and provide many strategies to help increase good communication and compromise.

Eclectic

Although CBT is my primary modality for therapy, I also use other types of therapy when and where appropriate to increase the therapeutic treatment. These include motivational interviewing, strength based, mind/body, psychoeducation and solution focused brief therapy. I have much experience working with teens, pre-teens and providing parent support. I also work with substance use and abuse issues as well.
