Chido Ibe
My practice is primarily medication management for mental health and my sessions are completely centered around my patients. I take time to learn about your background, current situation, and life & treatment goals my patients would like to achieve. Listening more than I talk accomplishes two things: it allows me to learn about my patients through their own perspectives, as well as allows patients to play an important role in their own treatment through verbalizing their problems. With over 13 years in the mental health field treating a wide range of conditions, as well as several years as a mental health instructor for college & university level nursing students, I am very confident that I will help you reach your treatment goals.
First session
Our first session will focus on you sharing with me your background, the reason(s) for your seeking mental health treatment currently, and your goals for treatment. I will give you a preliminary diagnosis if appropriate or, if there is enough information, a definitive diagnosis, an explanation of what you are going through, and the plan for treatment. You may be prescribed medication(s) if warranted, and plans for follow-up will be made.
Strengths
My goal is always to help my patients reach their mental health homeostasis (a stable, balanced mental state despite external stressors). Our sessions will always have you at the center and you will be armed with knowledge, assurance, and a different perspective.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals going through both new onset, as well as chronic, anxiety, mood, sleep, and psychotic conditions. Although I do not directly treat substance use disorders, I understand that substance abuse is typically secondary to underlying primary unresolved mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, etc.), so assessing for & treating the underlying condition(s) will play a significant role in the patient's recovery.
Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
I major part of my approach to treatment is educating my patients about what they are going through and ways they can attain & maintain their balance. There is a lot of power in knowledge.
