Hello! I am an LPC with a Master of Arts degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Maxine has a genuine passion and love for listening to people’s problems/issues and helping them become their best selves. I have over 25 years of diverse experience working in the mental health field. I enjoy collaborating with individuals struggling with substance abuse, depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, family issues and more. She uses an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities to include cognitive behavior therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and mindfulness practices. I enjoy collaborating with individuals of all age groups, ethnicities, and cultures. I believe in living a purposeful, full life. I enjoy reading, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, scrabble and spending time with family and friends.
• My clients typically tell me how much better they feel after just one session. I want my clients to feel comfortable and trusting in me. We will work to establish a rapport quickly because I to want to hear your story! Trust, empathy, and compassion are essential for our relationship to work. We will move at a pace that is comfortable for you. Many, clients tell me that they feel like they have chatted with an old friend but realize there has been growth in the conversation. To me, this is the way it should be.
I believe that we are all beautifully, flawed individuals. I enjoy utilizing a positive, encouraging, holistic approach. I will encourage you to stretch, grow and reach fearlessly towards your best version of self. I will be there to support you every step of the way!
• I very much like a positive and comprehensive approach to therapy. It is important to find balance in your life and it starts with improving self-esteem and good self-care. I like a person-centered approach meaning you are in charge; we go at your speed and things should always be comfortable for you during therapy. I love working with adolescents because I realize and remember what a confusing complex time adolescence can be! I enjoy their youthful energy, curiosity and helping them to discover a path forward in their lives.
I have used a combination of CBT and Client-centered therapy for many years.
I am a Christian and enjoy working with people who want to infuse their faith into their therapeutic journey.
I will infuse deep breathing, guided imagery and a myriad of other tools into your therapeutic journey.
