Life can be messy & gets complicated. Sometimes we just need someone on our side. I feel privileged to be in a position to come alongside people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds going through some of life’s most difficult situations. Together we will sort through any issues preventing you from enjoying your life. It is my joy to support you as you take an active role in restoring power, play and purpose to your life while creating a life of connection and meaning. I have 25 years of experience doing just that for many who have faced grief & loss, traumatic life experiences or challenging transitions, as well as those struggling with depression and anxiety. Whatever you are going through, I am here to provide a safe place where you can share your struggles. I will listen, offer options, amplify choices, examine beliefs & values, promote radical acceptance, and foster love. I provide empathy, nonjudgment, validation and a safe space while you sort through the barriers to the life you want. Therapy is a collaboration. You are on a unique path and you bring to therapy your strengths, needs and values. I see my role as honoring that as I act as your companion and guide towards better relationships and a better you. My most successful clients recognize that there are no formulas or magic solutions to life’s challenges. They know that life and therapy are hard work that involves trial and error and will require them to be open to changes in the way they think or act. They are growth-minded and solution-focused. If this sounds like what you are looking for in therapy, let’s get started today.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be spent getting to know each other and will include me gathering a lot of background information, conducting an assessment of the problem area and identifying your therapy goals. During the following sessions, I will take a lot of time to listen, practicing curiosity and promote self-awareness, insight and understanding. As we continue, I will begin to facilitate resolving past traumas, exploring alternate narratives, and practice new ways of coping. I will coach you in developing healthy boundaries, assertiveness, and effective self-care. We will collaborate to problem-solve and strategize how to approach the dilemmas you are facing.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My professional foundation is Rogerian in offering unconditional positive regard, compassion, kindness, patience as we explore problem areas and parse through your real versus ideal selves. Beyond that, I will use a variety of tools drawn from multiple approaches to therapy including: CBT - examining the role thoughts, beliefs and behaviors, DBT - implementing coping and distress tolerance strategies; Narrative therapy: considering the stories we tell ourselves and the ways we can rescript these; Adlerian & Psychodynamic: considering the role of early family experiences and social contexts play in our mental health; Existential: if you seek to enhance your life with meaning and self-direction through creativity, awe, presence, transcendence, and spirituality

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The strengths I bring to your therapeutic journey are creating a safe space, offering support, and facilitating insight. I am relationally minded and can guide people through relational challenges including parenting, partner conflict and working relationships.
