LMFT, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I’m Brenda Montgomery-Telfor, LMFT. I’m a compassionate, culturally responsive therapist with a deep heart for helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s transitions, losses, and emotional challenges. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space for healing, clarity, and growth. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, or self-worth, I’m here to walk beside you with grace, empathy, and empowerment.
In our first session together, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can begin to feel seen and heard. We'll spend time getting to know each other—I'll invite you to share what brought you to therapy, what challenges you're facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask me any questions about the process. Together, we’ll begin to clarify your goals and lay the foundation for a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship that empowers you to move forward with greater clarity, healing, and hope.
As a therapist, my greatest strength lies in my ability to create an environment that is both compassionate and empowering. I bring over three decades of professional experience in corporate leadership, project management, and training, which enriches my clinical work with a grounded, results-oriented perspective. My clients often share that they feel truly seen, heard, and supported in our sessions. I integrate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples, alongside faith-based counseling for those who seek spiritual integration. I specialize in helping clients move through life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, and burnout—especially women and young adults who are working to rebuild their self-worth and emotional resilience. What makes my work unique is the balance I bring between structured, goal-oriented strategies and a warm, affirming therapeutic presence. I meet clients where they are, walk with them at their pace, and support their transformation with both clinical tools and heartfelt compassion.
I am passionate about supporting women, young adults, and couples who are navigating life transitions, emotional overwhelm, or challenges in their relationships. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, or grief—and are seeking a safe, affirming space to process their experiences. I work especially well with faith-based clients who desire to integrate spirituality into their healing process. Whether you're yearning for emotional clarity, renewed confidence, stronger boundaries, or deeper connection in your relationships, I walk alongside you with compassion, clinical insight, and a growth-focused approach that honors your unique story and values.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize how unhelpful thoughts impact their emotions and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns, challenge negative thinking, and replace them with healthier beliefs and coping skills. I guide clients in building tools to manage anxiety, depression, and life stressors using structured, evidence-based techniques.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, clarify goals, and build practical solutions. Rather than focusing on problems, I guide clients to recognize what’s working, envision change, and take small, empowering steps forward. This approach supports growth in a compassionate and focused way.
I use Narrative Therapy to help clients explore their life stories, uncover empowering meanings, and separate themselves from problems. By rewriting the narrative, clients gain clarity, reclaim their voice, and discover strength and resilience in new ways.
I offer Christian counseling that integrates prayer, scripture, and biblical principles to support individuals and couples seeking faith-based therapy. This approach helps clients grow spiritually and emotionally while addressing relationship challenges with grace and God-centered guidance.
I use the Gottman Method to help couples improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and resolve conflicts. This approach includes structured exercises that promote trust, understanding, and shared goals—supporting both partners in building a stronger, healthier relationship.
