About me

Welcome! I'm Selina. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist - Associate (LCAS-A) based in North Carolina. I've been in the field of mental health for 6 years. I enjoy helping people become better versions of themselves while navigating the many challenges of life (trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, etc.). My warm inviting, personality allows clients a safe space to be and work on themselves, knowing someone is in their corner. Welcome to my virtual cozy corner. I'm excited to talk with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session will be an inital assessment where we talk about what brought you to counseling and learn more about you as an individual. As we get acquainted, we will create a plan for our work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strength as a provider is my ability to connect. Everyone comes to therapy for their own reasons, many of them vastly different. I have a unique ability to connect to people by allowing them a safe space to be themselves and meeting them where they are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with children, adolescents, and adults. Many of the people I work with are ready to begin working on themselves and the issues they are experiencing, but need a little help, guidance, or even a small nudge. I provide clients the tools to eventually handle life's issues on their own and to be there while they are working through things for themselves using the tools provided.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to counseling is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I like to help clients understand how their thoughts and emotions impact how they act or react to things. This approach provides a framework for clients to take their power back by becoming aware of and reframing the things they can change, including their reactions.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing (MI) is the approach I use with clients who battle addiction. This approach helps clients find the motivation to make a positive behavior change. Rather than pressuring clients into the path of recovery, MI empowers clients to make the change for themselves.

Selina is such a breath of fresh air! She actively listens and provides feedback with a solution. It feels as if I’m talking to a really good friend but professionally. I didn’t feel judged in the slightest.
