LPC, 9 years of experience
I have trauma focused training from my graduate program and recognize that even events that you may perceive as "minor" may continue to have an effect on your happiness and wellbeing without you even realizing. Together, we can explore some of these events that have occurred and develop ways to ensure that you have appropriate supports in place and rebuild from the traumatic experience.
I often utilize CBT in therapy as well as this is a modality that can address a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety and OCD to name a few. CBT can help you challenge those repetitive, negative, or intrusive thoughts that you experience and help you to reframe those thoughts into positives. Together we can work to deconstruct and combat negative patterns of thinking and ultimately prevent you from falling into future destructive thought patterns.
Mindfulness-based therapy techniques are frequently incorporated into my therapy sessions. Oftentimes, people find themselves ruminating over past events or worrying about future events and forget to focus on the present moment. With mindfulness techniques, we will work together to help you refocus your thoughts on the present moment and lessen or ultimately eliminate patterns of rumination or excessive worrying.
