As a First-Generation Vietnamese-American, I always strive to stay informed and provide culturally/competent care, attuning to the way culture, language, background, and systems of oppression/privilege shape and influence the way we view & navigate the world, both in and out of session. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in sociology from UC Santa Barbara and my Master of Social Work from USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. I have over 10 years of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients. I believe that therapy is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest care without judgment, and that I work alongside my clients to support them in navigate life-transitions, to better manage emotional distress, and how improve their relationships.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a clinical social worker, I am warm, open, and encouraging. Using my experience, education, creativity, and my light-hearted sense of humor, I provide a compassionate and realistic approach to therapy. I am a firm believer that change happens when we are given guidance to help draw on our strengths and elevate our unique qualities so that we can exist as our truest selves.

Relational

Relationships Relational Therapy focuses on the role of relationships and interpersonal interactions in a client's emotional ad psychological well-being. Whether it is about family, friend, romantic partner, or a colleague, using this approach, I help clients understand and explore the underlying issues, dynamics and patterns when difficulties arises in these relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on identify and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to our emotional distress. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and that change negative thoughts and maladaptive behaviors can lead to changes in emotions and overall well-being. Working collaborative with clients, I am able to support them in recognizing and challenging their thoughts and behaviors that has helped them decrease their symptoms of anxiety and depression. The tools and techniques that are provided to help restructure, redirect and reframe are tangible and specific to each client's needs.

Mind-body approach

Mind-body approach therapy integrates psychological and physical techniques to improve overall well-being. This approach is based on the understanding that mental and physical health are interconnected, and that emotional, mental, social, and behavioral factors can influence physical health. Working collaboratively with clients, we creatively explore and identify tools, techniques and expressive activities to help increase more balance within the mind-body and how they interact with the would around them.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally Sensitive Therapy, also known as multi-cultural therapy, is an approach that recognizes and respects that cultural backgrounds, values, and experiences of clients. This approach acknowledges that cultural factors significantly influence an individual's worldview, behavior, and experience of mental health issues.
