New to Grow
I’m Lisa, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor / Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor who blends humor, compassion, and curiosity to create a safe space for growth. I serve adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, trauma, or identity questions. My goal is to help you work with your brain—not against it—so you can dig deeper, embrace self-acceptance, and move toward a more authentic, balanced life.
So, the first session is awkward! We’ll acknowledge that right away and use it as a starting point to make the transition from strangers to collaborators easier. Therapy works best when we can be real with each other, and that begins with breaking the ice. In our first meeting, I’ll invite you to share what brings you in, what feels heavy right now, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to lay it all out at once—we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable. I’ll also ask some background questions to get a sense of your story, strengths, and what matters most to you. You can expect warmth, humor, and some gentle challenging, because real growth often comes when we’re brave enough to look beneath the surface. My goal is that you leave feeling heard, supported, and a little lighter.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is helping people dig deeper to uncover the patterns and stories that shape their lives—while keeping space for humor and humanity. I use a psychodynamic lens to explore the “why” beneath your struggles, while also weaving in CBT, ACT, and other evidence-based tools to support lasting change. Clients often tell me they appreciate my mix of compassion and gentle challenging. I won’t push you faster than you’re ready, but I also won’t let you stay stuck in the same loops forever. I believe therapy should feel both safe and dynamic: a place where you can be fully yourself, laugh if you need to, cry if you need to, and discover insights that shift how you move through the world. Above all, I help clients learn to work with their brains—not against them. Together, we create space for self-acceptance, resilience, and authentic growth.
My ideal clients are thoughtful, curious individuals who may feel stuck repeating old patterns or wrestling with an inner critic. They may carry anxiety, ADHD, trauma, or the weight of trying to “do it all” while still searching for joy and meaning. Many identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, or sensitive souls who long for a place where they don’t have to explain or defend who they are. If you’re someone who has tried to push your feelings away, distract yourself, or muscle through, only to feel more disconnected from yourself—you’re in the right place. I believe in helping you partner with your brain, not fight against it. My clients are willing to explore both the “here and now” and the deeper roots of their struggles, knowing that real growth takes curiosity, compassion, and sometimes a little gentle humor along the way. I work best with those ready to lean into the uncomfortable work of self-reflection, to be gently challenged, and to explore new perspectives. Together, we create a space that is affirming, curious, and focused on building both insight and practical tools for living fully.
Using evidence-based therapies I use a holistic approach to therapy, combining elements from CBT, ACT, Person-Centered, and psychodynamic perspectives, I tailor my approach to honor your unique needs and empower you to thrive authentically.
