Lauren Krolick
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Path to Peace Counseling. I work with adolescents and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, perfectionism, stress, trauma, ADHD, or major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can be yourself while also feeling supported and challenged to make meaningful changes.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any goals you may already have in mind. I’ll also ask some questions about your background and current life circumstances so I can better understand the bigger picture. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to create a plan for moving forward together.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, genuine, and collaborative approach to therapy. I strive to create a space where clients feel understood and supported, while also being willing to gently challenge patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My style is integrative and tailored to each person, drawing from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and strength-based approaches. I value practical tools and insight, but I also believe that feeling truly heard and understood is an important part of meaningful change.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who wants therapy to be an active, collaborative process and is looking for more than just a space to vent or a sounding board. While feeling heard, understood, and supported is an important part of therapy, I also believe meaningful growth comes from being engaged in the process. I work best with clients who are open to being challenged, exploring new perspectives, identifying patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and learning practical coping skills they can use outside of sessions. My approach is interactive and supportive, so you can expect thoughtful questions, feedback, new ideas, and tools that we can work through together to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful, lasting change.
Treatment methods
Attachment-based
I use an attachment-based approach to help clients explore how early relationships and past experiences may influence the way they connect with others, respond to conflict, and view themselves today. Together, we identify recurring relationship patterns, build greater self-awareness, and work toward developing healthier, more secure ways of relating to yourself and others.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
U use ACT to help clients better understand and make space for difficult thoughts and emotions without allowing them to take over. Together, we focus on identifying what matters most to you, recognizing patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and taking meaningful steps toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge perspectives that may be contributing to distress, and develop healthier ways of responding. I also incorporate practical coping skills and strategies that clients can use between sessions and in their everyday lives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate DBT skills to help clients better manage intense emotions, cope with distress, improve relationships, and respond more effectively to difficult situations. We may work on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and communication skills, with an emphasis on practical tools that can be applied outside of therapy. These also fit really nicely with the rest of the profile we’ve been writing because they reinforce that your sessions are interactive, skills-based, and collaborative, rather than just a place to talk.
