Hi! I'm a Johns Hopkins-trained, board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who brings a deeply empathetic, evidence-based, and down-to-earth approach to mental health. I take the time to get to know my patients, understand where they're coming from and where they want to go, and make sure they are well-informed to make the best decisions for themselves. I am dual-certified as a (medical) Family Nurse Practitioner as well, and have a background in functional and integrative medicine so will see you holistically as a uniquely individual person.
In our first session, I'll give you time to talk and I will actually listen to you and believe you :) I'll take the time to understand what you're experiencing and what your goals are. We'll also do a thorough assessment to make sure we're getting at the nuances of your condition and not missing anything. We'll work on a treatment plan together, and I'll present you various options you can choose from as part of that plan.
I've been told by many patients that they feel more listened to and understood by me than previous providers. I attribute that to understanding myself what it's like to be shuffled through the medical system and feel rushed, not heard, and dismissed. I also bring my education from Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt Universities, as well as experience having worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization.
I specialize in working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, difficulty sleeping, life transitions, OCD and the mental health aspects of chronic pain and illness. Wherever you are in your journey -- from reaching out for the first time and not knowing where to start, to continuing maintenance treatment for a stable condition, to trying something new if you feel your condition could be better managed -- I'm here to support you.
I offer supportive and empathetic sessions. I will take the time to get to know you and understand where you're coming from, your needs, and where you'd like to go. I offer a non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing, heard and understood.
I come equipped with several therapeutic tools we can use throughout our session, rather than just focusing on one rigid approach. This allows us the flexibility to meet your needs.
