I specialize in supporting adults as they navigate life’s challenges, helping them discover and honor their true selves. My practice focuses on a holistic, collaborative approach, integrating evidence-based therapeutic techniques to promote healing and growth. With experience in addressing a wide array of concerns, including stress, trauma, grief, and personal development, I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and professions. I have a particular focus on serving the veterinary medical students, professionals, and animal owners. I incorporate mindfulness and calming techniques to enhance the mind-body connection and foster resilience. Together, we build a strengths-based toolkit tailored to your needs, empowering you to process your story and thrive in everyday life. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your journey and achieve meaningful progress.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During a first session, we we briefly review confidentiality and I invite you to share what is bringing you in, understanding this is not always clear! I want to give you space to share and I will begin exploring some questions for a biopsychosocial assessment that will be ongoing in our work together. A first session may take longer than the following sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are meeting you where you are in a non-judgmental space, exploring your strengths, and exploring your needs assisting you in gaining insights and practice new skills both in session and out.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I offer evidence-based practices for a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, academic distress, compassion fatigue, burnout, and traumatic stress. Certified in veterinary social work and animal hospice/palliative care (IAAHPC), I specialize in support for animal owners, allied animal professionals, and the veterinary medical community. It takes courage to be vulnerable and discover your inner potential within challenging circumstances. Telling your story benefits you & your relationships.

My treatment methods

Integrative

I use a variety of elements from many different treatment methods including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychology, Worden's Grief Model, and evidence-based practices for trauma recovery. Most importantly, I embrace a strengths perspective that focuses on what you are experiencing in the many aspects of your life, internally and externally.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In my practice, I use a Rogerian style of therapy, also known as person-centered therapy. This approach focuses on creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients feel truly heard and understood. By emphasizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness, I help clients explore their own solutions and foster self-awareness. This method aligns perfectly with my collaborative and strengths-based style, empowering clients to honor their true north and navigate their personal challenges. As a Certified Veterinary Social Worker, I support veterinary/allied animal health professionals and animal owners. My areas of expertise include providing care for grief and bereavement, compassion fatigue and burnout, traumatic stress, conflict mediation, and the Link between human and animal violence.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindful approach that helps clients stay focused on the present moment and accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment. ACT encourages clients to embrace their emotions and commit to actions that align with their values, promoting psychological flexibility and resilience. This approach empowers clients to move forward through difficult emotions, putting their energy into healing and living a meaningful life.

Positive Psychology

In my psychotherapy practice, I help clients achieve a state of flow, where they become fully immersed and engaged in activities that bring them joy and fulfillment. By identifying and leveraging their strengths, I guide clients to find activities that naturally induce flow, enhancing their overall well-being and life satisfaction. Through this process, clients learn to focus on the present moment, experience heightened creativity and productivity, and build resilience against life’s challenges.
