I am a seasoned and experienced Licensed Health Counselor who is passionate about wellness and providing a non-judgmental and safe space for all individuals. I have enormous compassion for people going through life's challenges and transitions and I feel privileged to work with those who are seeking support. Through a strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centered therapeutic approach, I recognize the importance of building a relationship with clients to establish realistic and attainable goals together. I have experience working with adults, couples, and adolescents with problems including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, addiction, drug abuse, trauma, intimacy issues, LGBTQ-related issues, behavioral issues, post-traumatic stress disorder and couples therapy including sexual issues. I am a Board-Certified Mental Health Counselor, Sex Therapist and Addictions Counselor. I love what I do and feel privileged to assist my clients in creating their emotional well-being. My goal is to help you achieve self-actualization and support. I have been a therapist for over 15 years, and I believe that an effective therapist provides compassion, empathy, creativity, and a place of safety and support. I believe therapy is an investment one makes in themselves. I offer individual therapy to people of all ages with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and relationship issues. Life is tough, and everyone needs support. We work together on the skills to support your emotional well-being. Using a collaborative approach, I help my clients address and acknowledge negative patterns, engage in better decision-making, build stronger relationships, and create attainable goals. I utilize both cognitive behavioral and solution-focused theories to help articulate concerns and goals and work towards them healthily and positively. If you find yourself overwhelmed, stressed or stuck in a negative rut and want a more productive life, schedule an appointment. I get results where others fail!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be an intake session, therapy is a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental space designed to help you better understand yourself, your emotions, behaviors, relationships, and challenges. The first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and identifying goals that are meaningful to you. Therapy is a collaborative process. You are not expected to have all the answers, and you do not need to “perform” or “say the right thing.” What is discussed in therapy is confidential and protected. Therapy Is a Process, Not a Quick Fix-Emotional healing and behavioral change take time. Some sessions may feel relieving, while others may feel emotionally difficult or uncomfortable. Progress is often gradual and non-linear. Honesty Improves Treatment, Emotional Reactions Are Normal, Therapy Requires Participation Therapy works best when patients actively participate. Growth may involve: Practicing coping skills, Journaling, Completing homework, Reflecting between sessions, Applying insights outside therapy. “Therapy is a process of learning, healing, and growth. Some sessions may feel difficult, but you do not have to go through challenges alone. My role is to help support you, challenge unhelpful patterns, and work collaboratively with you toward meaningful change at a pace that feels safe and productive.”

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

15 years experience with Trauma-Focused therapy. Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) addresses the mental health needs of individuals and families suffering from the destructive effects of early trauma. The treatment is particularly sensitive to the unique problems of youth through adulthood with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from sexual abuse, as well as from physical abuse, violence, or grief. TF-CBT incorporates principles of family therapy. Early trauma can lead to guilt, anger, feelings of powerlessness, self-harm, acting out, depression, and anxiety. Post-traumatic stress disorder, which affects children and adults, can manifest in a number of ways, such as negative recurring thoughts about the traumatic experience, emotional numbness, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, and extreme physical and emotional responses to anything that triggers a memory of the trauma. By integrating the theories and techniques of several therapeutic interventions, TF-CBT can address and improve the symptoms of post-traumatic stress in individuals.
