I am an Afro-Caribbean mom and forever learner. Psychology and healing deeply excite me. I dipped my toe into psychiatry for the first time as a high school student and am still furthering my education in clinical psychology today. I know there is a greater capacity for healing available to individuals who have always looked inward, fist-fought generational patterns, and still feel stuck in a world that says they need 15 more tasks completed by yesterday. I work to be a safe resting place for people who have moved from therapist to therapist, searching for someone who will truly see them for who they are rather than who the world has tried to mold them into. I desire to fill the Keturah-sized space in that wellness gap. I enjoy working side-by-side with clients to explore areas of possibility, rest, healing, and growth, and then provide the tools to make these things possible.
In the first session clients feel comfortable understood, sometimes for the first time in their life. In the first session we complete an activity that gives us a snapshot of where the client currently is in life and experience. By the end the session we both have a picture of what has been the pain point(s) for the client and some potential barriers to change. The client will also understand which therapy modalities may work best for their healing.
My greatest strengths are listening between the lines and bringing thought-provoking questions to the forefront, being in alignment with the client for deep understanding, paying attention to slight body shifts and tone during communication, being transparent and relatable when appropriate, and full acceptance of being different myself to create space for clients who have felt like there isn't a healing space for them within traditional mental health spaces.
If you have been striving and succeeding your entire life and now realize that you are burnt out, upset, and dissatisfied with the life you created or the life you have that someone else aesthetically imagined for you. If you are ready to learn the tools to take your life back and start creating the life you desire, I would love to work with you. My clients are open to reflecting and eventually taking small, meaningful action steps toward transformation. My clients typically can connect with experiences of low self-esteem, mild depression or anxiety, giftedness, spirituality, feeling different, suspecting they have/currently have ADHD, stepping into their calling, transitioning upward, and wanting to embrace motherhood.
Brainspotting is an amazing mind-body experience that allows me to provide a space for you to explore blocks and barriers to your healing. Brainspotting is beneficial when traditional talk therapy has gone as far as it can, and you want to go deeper by surpassing your logical brain.
My experience is deeply personal. I have found that often times in mental health we come to a place where it is evident that something spiritual is at work. I use biblical teaching, Holy Spirit insight, and human connection to move past some of the most difficult barriers to a healthy mental space.
Renewing the mind. I use this method to locate ways that we have been thinking that may be keeping us bound or fearful and look at different ways of thking and being.
