Hello, my name is Mayra Lopez and I am a bilingual speaking Licensed Clinical Social Worker! Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it’s your first time. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin, and you don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. I’m here to meet you where you are, with compassion and zero judgment. Reaching out for support is a brave and important step. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious about how therapy can help, I offer a space where you can explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.
The first session is all about getting to know each other and laying the groundwork for our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brings you in, what challenges you're facing, and what goals you’d like to work toward. We'll also talk about your history, any previous therapy experiences, and what has or hasn’t been helpful in the past. This is also your time to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.
I support clients by creating a clear, collaborative plan grounded in their values and strengths. Together, we identify what's most important to them, clarify realistic objectives, and break those into manageable steps. I use evidence-based approaches to help shift unhelpful patterns and build new skills, while keeping sessions focused and purposeful. Along the way, I provide honest feedback, celebrate progress, and help clients stay accountable to the changes they want to make. Whether the goal is healing, growth, or practical change, I help clients move forward with clarity and confidence.
I work with young adults, adults, and older adults who are motivated and ready to invest in themselves. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and compassion. I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered.
I regularly use a strength-based approach to empower clients by focusing on their existing skills, values, and past successes rather than deficits. I help clients identify their strengths and use them to develop coping strategies and set meaningful goals. This method fosters resilience and a collaborative therapeutic relationship, increasing motivation and engagement. For example, I highlight how clients have managed stress or adversity in the past to build practical tools for current challenges.
I use the person-centered approach to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and valued. By practicing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness, I help clients explore their feelings and thoughts at their own pace. This method empowers clients to access their own strengths and solutions, fostering self-awareness and personal growth.
I integrate psychodynamic principles by helping clients explore unconscious patterns, early life experiences, and emotional conflicts that influence their current behavior and relationships. Through building a strong therapeutic alliance, I support clients in gaining insight into these underlying issues, which promotes self-awareness and long-term change.
