Anxiety doesn't always look like worry on the surface. Sometimes it's a short temper at home, a relationship that feels tenser than close, or a mind that won't slow down even when the day is done. I'm Janna, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, working with adults and couples carrying more than they say out loud. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or PTSD, or a quiet disconnect between partners, I bring a calm, structured presence to our sessions. My goal early on is simple: help you feel steady enough to think clearly again, whether you're in the room alone or beside someone you love.

First session

After a session with me, you can expect to feel heard, supported, and more in tune with yourself. My goal is to help you gain insight, build coping skills, and leave with greater clarity and confidence to face life’s challenges with resilience and self-awareness.

Strengths

In session, I draw on cognitive behavioral tools to help you notice the thoughts driving anxiety or low mood, and the Gottman Method to help you and a partner rebuild communication and trust. We start with what feels urgent and build practical steps to use between sessions, whether that's calming an anxious moment or navigating a hard conversation at home. Reaching out is often the hardest part, and you don't have to have it figured out to start. Many people I work with arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure if things can change. I've seen that steadiness and connection are possible again, for you and for your relationships. If you're ready to feel more like yourself, I'd love to talk with you.

Ideal clients

I help clients manage anxiety, lift the weight of depression, and navigate relationship challenges. Most clients feel nervous beginning therapy for the first time, or revisiting again after some time has passed. If you are looking to improve your mood, have healthier boundaries or challenge yourself to reach your goals, therapy is a great place to start. Together, we'll build tools to reduce stress, improve mood, and strengthen connections so you can feel more balanced, supported, and empowered in your daily life.

Treatment methods

Compassion-Focused

Many individuals understand their emotions on a logical and rational level, however, will often judge themselves for feeling them in the first place. Compassion-focused therapy is an approach which prioritizes empathy and acceptance, creating a space where clients can alleviate themselves from self criticism and negative self talk.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This is a treatment approach which focuses on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. This is a method where I will help clients learn coping skills to manage negative emotions, stress and difficult relationships.

Psychodynamic

It may sound cliche, but our childhood experiences play a significant role in our adult lives. This approach is used in individual therapy as well as couples therapy, where I guide individuals to reflect on their childhoods and make connections between present behavior and past experiences.

Gottman method

The Gottaman Method is an approach I use when working with couples. One of the main aspects of this approach is to identify unproductive ways of communicating (criticism, defensiveness, contempt and stonewalling). I will guide each individual to acknowledge how they have been contributing to an unproductive or dysfunctional dynamic.
