Geano Powell
Hi, I’m Geano—a therapist at Grow I work with adults and teens to help them feel more grounded and in control. I support people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, anger management, and relationship challenges. In sessions, I’m direct, encouraging, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when we work as a team, and you feel heard while we also take practical steps forward. My approach is rooted in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and solution-focused therapy, so we’ll explore what’s contributing to what you’re experiencing, and then focus on real strategies you can use between sessions.
My goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, clearer about what’s going on, and more confident about what to do next.
My goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, clearer about what’s going on, and more confident about what to do next.
First session
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore your concerns, what you hope to gain, and any questions you have about the process. I’ll explain my approach and confidentiality, and we’ll begin identifying goals together. You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation or share everything at once; we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, with a clearer understanding of how we can work together and what comes next.
Strengths
I bring warmth, patience, and a collaborative approach to my sessions. My background in mental health and supporting people with diverse needs helps me consider the whole person, including the everyday challenges that affect well-being. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to help you understand patterns, build coping skills, and make changes that align with your goals. I balance compassionate listening with practical guidance, tailoring our work to your strengths, needs, and pace.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone seeking support with stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, or feeling stuck. You may want to better understand your emotions, strengthen relationships, or develop healthier ways to cope. You don’t need to have clear goals or know where to begin, we can figure that out together. I enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves and willing to explore change, even when it feels uncertain. Together, we’ll build on your strengths and work toward goals that matter to you, at a pace that feels manageable.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we’ll identify patterns that contribute to distress and practice more balanced ways of thinking and responding. Depending on your goals, we may work on coping skills, problem-solving, or taking manageable steps toward activities you’ve been avoiding. We’ll also explore ways to practice these skills between sessions so you can apply what you’re learning to everyday challenges.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use solution-focused brief therapy to help you clarify what you want to change and identify practical steps toward your goals. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, what’s already working, and times when the challenges you face have felt more manageable. We’ll build on those experiences to find solutions that fit your life. By setting small, achievable goals and checking in on progress, we can help you recognize meaningful changes and build confidence in your ability to move forward.
