First session

During our first session, we will focus on getting to know you and understanding your concerns, symptoms, and mental health history. I will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which may include discussing your current challenges, past treatment, medical history, medications, and personal goals for care. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share what you hope to gain from treatment. Together, we will begin developing a personalized treatment plan, which may include therapy, medication management, lifestyle strategies, or other supportive interventions tailored to your needs. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental Hiii space where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns and beginning your path toward improved mental well-being.

Strengths

My greatest strengths include my warm, compassionate, solution-oriented, and patient-centered approach. My ability to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their concerns. I take time to listen carefully and work collaboratively with each client to understand their unique experiences and goals. I combine evidence-based treatment, medication management, and therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral strategies and motivational interviewing, to support meaningful and lasting change. My goal is to empower clients with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to improve their mental health and overall quality of life.

Ideal clients

I work with adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and life stressors who may feel overwhelmed or stuck and are seeking support and relief. I partner with clients who are open to therapy, medication management, and learning coping skills to improve their mental health. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and culturally responsive, creating a safe space where we develop personalized treatment plans to help clients feel better and function more effectively in their daily lives.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help patients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. I guide patients in identifying negative thinking patterns and developing healthier ways to respond to challenges. I also incorporate coping skills, behavioral activation, and problem-solving strategies to improve daily functioning. When appropriate, I combine CBT techniques with medication management to support long-term mental health and resilience.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a patient-centered counseling approach that helps individuals resolve ambivalence and build motivation for positive behavioral change. In my practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I useit to help patients identify their personal goals and strengthen their commitment to improving their mental health. I use techniques such as open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. This approach is especially helpful for patients struggling with substance use, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes. By integrating motivational interviewing with medication management and other therapeutic strategies, I help patients recognize their strengths, increase their confidence, and support long-term mental health improvement.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling combines psychological principles with Christian beliefs to support both mental health and spiritual well-being. In my practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I use this approach when patients want their faith incorporated into treatment, providing a supportive environment where they can discuss emotional challenges while drawing on their spiritual beliefs for strength. When appropriate, I may include faith-based discussions, prayer, or scripture reflection, while also integrating evidence-based therapy and medication management to promote holistic healing and personal growth.
