Warm Greetings! My name is Kylie Stahl, LCMHC-QS providing psychotherapy and supervision services to North Carolina. In 2013, I received my certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher 200hr from Asheville Yoga Center. In 2017, after taking a 7 year break, I finally finished my bachelors from Brevard College majoring in psychology and minoring in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education. In 2019, I graduated with my masters in Counseling Clinical Mental Health from Western Carolina University. Throughout my career I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults within several atmospheres including community, recreational, residential, and private practice. In my spare time I enjoy playing outside, climbing and hiking with my family.
I always share with client's that I recognize that I am a random stranger so whatever you feel most comfortable sharing on a first session is up to you. First sessions usually consist of sharing a little background and what brings you to therapy. We may explore past relationships and patterns of behavior.
I believe that my strength lies within my empathetic and calm approach. I strongly believe that the therapeutic process is based on whether you feel comfortable with your therapist and if I'm not that person, that's ok! I encourage the autonomy of client's and their choice within their growth and healing.
One of the main evidence based practices that I utilize is Acceptance and Commitment therapy which works towards finding some peace within ourselves, acknowledging the dark spaces and moving forward through them. The 6 principles of ACT (Acceptance, Committed Action, Values, Self as Context, Being Present, and Cognitive Defusion) works with clients to help clients navigate challenges within life.
I am trained in EMDR and utilize this approach when requested for client's who have been impacted by trauma.
I have a background as a yoga instructor and enjoy utilizing mindfulness based practices when working with clients who are working towards increasing coping skills, grounding techniques for anxiety, and general practices for wellbeing.
