I am an independently licensed psychotherapist who works with adults who suffer from Anxiety and Depression and or other behavioral disturbances. My experience includes working in psychiatric hospitals conducting group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy and discharge planning. I have also worked in the world of clinical trials with therapeutic indications of Infectious Disease, Pain Management, Substance Abuse and Cardiovascular Diseases. In 2020, I started my own private practice to address mental health issues within her community for those who suffer with Anxiety, Depression and other behavior health disturbances.

I was also part of the NC Child Welfare Collaborative, which provided specific training in NC DSS and child welfare. I began my career practicing as a child protective services social worker. I worked as a front-line worker and as a supervisor with children and families related to abuse and neglect. I have experience working in hospital and community settings. I currently work in private practice with children, adults, and geriatrics. I have experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused treatment, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I have worked with high conflict custody cases, and family reunification, and provided expert testimony in court proceedings. I, April Nicole possesses a Master's in Social Work from Penn West Edinboro University. Currently based in Alaska, I focus on providing mental health services in an outpatient setting. I hold LCSW licenses in Nevada, Florida, Alaska and North Carolina. In North Carolina I am a licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), and I am credentialed nationally as a Masters Addictions Counselor (MAC) by NAADAC.

I have been trained with Triple P Level 3, Together Facing the Challenge provider and trainer, Motivational Interviewing, and is certificated in providing assessment and therapy for youth for problem sexual behaviors.

With extensive experience as a medical and hospice social worker, I take an eclectic approach to counseling, including solution-focused, strengths-based and cognitive-behavioral therapies, giving me the ability to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs. I’m so glad you’ve reached out for support and help, and I hope we’ll be able to meet soon! To that end, I’d like to let you know some things about me and my practice. I, hopefully like you, have a life and family outside of my work. Because of these responsibilities I must cancel/reschedule sessions more often than is usual. It’s inconvenient and I apologize for the necessity. However, for those clients who choose to move forward with me, I fully extend this same flexibility to them. I will never be upset or feel inconvenienced by your need to cancel or reschedule, even at the last minute. On a separate note completely, I don’t typically feel comfortable completing paperwork, such as FMLA, short-term disability, etc. for clients. I look forward to working with you!

My life experiences drew me to become a therapist and gave me a strong desire to help others on their paths.
