I hold a Clinical Psychologist license to practice in Illinois. I completed my doctorate studies at Adler University. My professional experience in treatment spans over 25 years. I believe a person holds the ability to transform their life for the better. I find satisfaction in helping them advance on their path. The following examples show my methods for treating anxiety and depression.
The evidence-based treatment method I use for anxiety focuses on individualized symptom-specific approaches that match the client’s needs and personal preferences. The combination of repetitive and irrational thoughts about perceived danger, uncertainty or failure creates distressing mental states which may manifest as negative thought, such as: "I am not good enough" or "something bad will happen" or "I will be fired if I make a mistake."
I assist my clients to detect and fight their negative beliefs and thoughts. I guide clients to manage their anxiety symptoms with mindfulness breathing techniques and progressive muscle relaxation methods. With assigned homework including mindfulness exercises, I guide the client to maintain their progress and self-regulation between sessions.
My depression treatment approach matches each client's symptoms, their life history, and their social environment. Depression exists on a spectrum from temporary sadness to persistent and severe Major Depressive Disorder. The maintenance of depression relies on negative thoughts such as “I am worthless” or “Nothing will ever get better.” Our focus will be to identify and modify.
Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients view their depressive thoughts in a non-judgmental manner to reduce their rumination and emotional distress. By teaching problem solving skills and the practice of mindfulness helps the individual become more aware of their physical tension. Assigning homework guides the individual to improve sleep hygiene, self-care, and build effective coping strategies.

Are you feeling exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Do you feel like you've lost yourself somewhere along the way? Maybe you find yourself constantly overthinking, walking on eggshells, questioning your feelings, or wondering if you're the problem. Maybe you've spent too much time trying to keep the peace, understand someone else's emotions, or make a relationship work that you no longer recognize yourself.
If you’ve been in a relationship where you felt manipulated, controlled, abused, or unsafe, you're not alone. Whether you're still trying to understand what happened, recently left a difficult relationship, or are still carrying the impact years later, your experiences matter. I specialize in supporting individuals who are healing from emotional abuse, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and trauma from relationships. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can begin to make sense of your experience, rebuild trust in yourself, strengthen your confidence, and reconnect with the person you were before.
You may feel confused, emotionally drained, anxious, depressed, or unsure of who you are anymore. These feelings are understandable after experiencing a relationship where your needs, feelings, or reality have been questioned or dismissed. Together, we can untangle the confusion, process what you've been through, and help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control.
My goal is not to just help you get through each day, but to help you reconnect with yourself, build your self-esteem, and create a life where you feel empowered, safe, and like yourself again.
You're not stuck. Healing is possible, and you do not have to go through it alone. I provide a warm,, down-to-earth, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel understood, supported, and comfortable being your authentic self. If you're ready to take the next step, I'd be honored to support you in your journey!
My vision is to let people know there is a place where they can be heard, while being empowered and uplifted. My work focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths and teaching them tools to help not only cope, but also heal. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside clients in community mental health centers, academic medical settings, and private practice, supporting them as they heal, grow, and discover what’s possible for their lives.
I am also deeply passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge—I’ve taught college courses on addiction treatment and have led trainings for other therapists on how to provide effective, compassionate care. I earned my graduate degree from the University of Chicago.
When I’m not in session, you’ll often find me enjoying a good book, trying out a new recipe, or enjoying quiet moments with my spouse and our two cats.

Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Illinois. I received my Masters degree in 2000 and have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. I am committed to helping adults, young adults, adolescents and older adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, and stress management issues. I am looking forward to working with individuals who need support, an open and safe space to explore issues, and compassionate care! I hope you take this brave step for yourself because you deserve it!
I work with clients who are struggling with grief, anxiety, depression or trauma. I also work with clients who may need assistance in processing everyday life stressors and want a supportive therapist whom they can confide in who will also challenge them and assist with problem-solving.
I also work with those facing reproductive challenges. As a compassionate and empathetic therapist, I understand the complex emotional and psychological impact that infertility and miscarriage can have. I can:
• Support you in maintaining hope, peace and positivity while navigating uncertainty and help you build resiliency as you work through obstacles.
• Help you to recognize and access your deeper intuition, so you are better equipped to honor your body, spirit and mind with the highest intention throughout your journey.
• Work with you on increasing clarity and purpose around your fertility journey.
• Utilize a holistic approach to address integrative lifestyle strategies that may be beneficial to your fertility path.
• Assist you in addressing relationship difficulties that can arise out of the stress of fertility challenges, help you develop strategies to increase intimacy with your partner and foster healthy communication.
For women and men who have experienced reproductive loss:
• The devastating and seemingly invisible pain of losing a pregnancy is unique in that it involves not only the loss of your baby, but also involves the loss of the future - and there is no accepted way to mark that loss. Sometimes it seems that friends and family members expect the person to move on quickly. Partners often grieve differently - and for men, the trauma of miscarriage is often overlooked. Also, some women may suffer guilt or shame associated with the loss that doesn't tend to occur with other types of grieving.
• There is no universal template for grief. Together, we will address your unique needs as you work through your grieving process.

I’m person-centered, which means I follow you, not a textbook. I’m not going to diagnose you in the first ten minutes or hand you a worksheet. I’m going to listen. And I’m going to take what you’re feeling seriously, even if nobody else has.

Dealing with the struggles I have had throughout my life has helped me work with people and develop creative and effective coping mechanisms for their specific issues. I have now lived and worked in several states with varying cultures and have benefited from all of these experiences. I have spent a lot of time in a hospital and work well with nurses and medical professionals as well. Please reach out if you think I can help and I will meet you where you are and see where we can go from here.

By tailoring my approach to each person's unique situation, I honor their individuality and foster a deeper sense of self-understanding and agency. I became a therapist because this work genuinely matters to me. Over the past nine years, I have seen how trauma can remain hidden beneath perfectionism, overachievement, unhealthy relationships, disordered eating, and the feeling that you have no idea who you are because you spent so long surviving. I also understand that trauma symptoms are frequently misunderstood, treated only at the surface, or confused with features associated with diagnoses such as Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. I take time to understand the whole person—not just the label.
I am warm, down-to-earth, and honest. I balance validation with respectfully challenging the beliefs and behaviors that keep you stuck.
I have ADHD, two tiny chihuahua coworkers named Bryn and Blair, and licenses to provide therapy in Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Colorado. I am proudly a girls’ girl, and my practice is mainly focused on the mental health and relational experiences of teens and women.
Hello, I'm Donna.
Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed? Are you feeling anxiety? Are you feeling doldrums or depression?
I want to help you discover the reasons behind these feelings. I want to assist you on the journey of self discovery and enlightenment.
Why? Because you are worth it!
I have 7+ years in experience working as a therapist in a private practice setting. I have experience as an intern working as an outpatient addiction counselor, I participated in a year long training to be an affirmative practice counselor working with the LGBTQ community. I am trained as a reiki master and I have helped individuals with depression, anxiety, and many other life stressors.
There are many reasons that can cause the feelings that we have. You are unique and you are special. Together we will find your balance, we will discover what will help you find a brighter and shinier future.
Let's work together!
