To overcome a disability that occurred in 1999 and severely damaged my spinal cord, I began to build a stronger relationship with God. Although I was bound to a wheelchair, this relationship did not bind me to depression and anger and gave me what I needed to live through my daily struggles. In turn, I felt encouraged to gain medical and spiritual knowledge to help others achieve this same triumph. Through years of practice and sharing testimony, I have been able to touch many and be changed in the same way through each experience. I not only aim to help people put their pieces together, but look to be touched as well by their stories and refine my own pieces as well. Faith-building exercises such as gratitude, encouragement, self-love, and confidence building are rooted in my practice for a happier and healthier you. The spiritual exercises that have helped me during my process were prayer, meditation, reading scriptures, and discussing my concerns with God-fearing counselors.

Hi, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as yourself, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Life can be complicated, overwhelming, and sometimes downright frustrating. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone. I work with individuals experiencing addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. Whether you're struggling with difficult emotions, feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, or adjusting to unexpected changes, my goal is to help you better understand yourself and discover healthier ways to move forward. My therapeutic style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative, with a little humor when appropriate. I believe meaningful growth comes from honest conversations, self-reflection, and sometimes being willing to see things from a different perspective. I'll listen, support you, and validate your experiences, but I'll also challenge you when needed. Sometimes growth requires stepping outside your comfort zone, and I'll be there to support you through that process. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and supportive therapy into my work. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we'll identify your goals, recognize your strengths, explore patterns that may be holding you back, and develop practical strategies you can use in everyday life. Therapy isn't about being perfect or having all the answers. It's about understanding yourself, making intentional choices, and learning how to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, laughing when appropriate, and celebrating your progress. You don't have to know exactly where you're going to take the first step. We'll figure out the direction together.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. For more than twenty years, I’ve worked with adults, teens, and families facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. My main orientation is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I use to help people understand and heal the protective and wounded parts of themselves. I also integrate attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches to strengthen how clients relate to themselves and to the people who matter most. I come to this work as both a professional and a person who’s lived through many of the challenges my clients face. I’m a parent who knows the daily strain of trying to be present for your family when you’re already running on empty. I’m a trauma survivor who understands what it’s like to rebuild trust in yourself after being hurt. I’ve dealt with painful medical conditions that have tested my patience, resilience, and faith in the system. I’m a husband in an interracial marriage, which continually deepens my understanding of identity, perspective, and what it means to hold space for difference with love and respect. And I’ve been both a therapist and a client, so I know how vulnerable it can feel to sit in that chair and hope the person across from you really gets it. Because of those experiences, very little shocks me and nothing makes me see you as “less than.” I don’t view trauma, pain, or mistakes as signs of weakness — they’re evidence of survival. My job is to meet you there with honesty, compassion, and respect, and help you find your way forward at a pace that’s right for you.

If you are reading this, you might be exhausted from trying to hold it all together. Whether you are an adult dealing with constant overthinking, or a teenager trying to navigate a world that feels incredibly stressful, I want you to know one thing: this is a space to be yourself. You do not have to perform here. You do not have to put on a brave face, use perfect words, or have anything figured out. You can just show up, vent, and let the walls down. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I have spent the last 10+ years working in community care, hospital crisis settings, and the juvenile justice system. Because of that background, I don't shock easily, and I won't panic if your life feels messy right now. I have sat with people through some of their darkest and most chaotic chapters. My goal isn't to judge you or give you a cookie-cutter lecture; it’s to provide a steady, calm, and grounded environment where you feel entirely safe. Whether you just need a dedicated place to talk, or you are ready to learn new ways to manage the heavy days, you don't have to do it alone. Let's get started.

My name is Amanda Chilleme, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, as well as a Master’s Certified Addiction Professional. For over 11 years, I have supported individuals in identifying what truly matters to them, navigating obstacles, and building a foundation for a more fulfilling future. My primary specialty is working with men and women struggling with substance use disorders as well as process and behavioral addictions, helping them find a pathway to a life that feels less burdened and more aligned. I also have extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, grief and bereavement, trauma, attachment concerns, and personality disorders. As a clinician, I take a human-focused approach. I am not here to tell you what you need to work on—you already know the what. My role is to help you understand the why, and ultimately the how: how to shift it, heal it, overcome it, or, when appropriate, let it go altogether. Your first session is best described as a two-way interview. As I listen to your story and your narrative begins to take shape, we collaboratively determine two things: Whether I am the right therapist for you, and Whether this therapeutic relationship is the right fit for both of us. If we decide to move forward together, identifying your goals becomes your first assignment. This process allows me to better understand how you think, how you interpret challenges, and how barriers such as stress, anxiety, depression, or relationship dynamics show up for you. From there, we focus on one goal at a time. I see myself as your coach, teammate, and cheerleader! Whether you are just beginning therapy or have been on this journey for some time, I invite you to plant that seed—and see just how beautifully you grow.

I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of trauma. I have experience working with adults who are survivors of complex trauma and suffer from depression, anxiety, and addiction. My approach is strength-based and client-centered with modalities from Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I believe most people stagnate in change because they are afraid and don’t know what to do. Many clients have told me they “feel like they are going crazy.” I am here to tell you that you are not crazy. Your mind and body are reacting to a traumatic event, and many things you do to cope with that event are to help you deal with the trauma, “normal responses to an abnormal situation.” My approach is simple: break down the problem into parts and gradually work on “unpeeling the layers.” This process is not easy and is often painful. However, it will be worth it because you will experience a freedom you never knew was possible. I want you to learn to thrive and live a full life instead of just surviving daily. I graduated from Berry College with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2003 and Kennesaw State University with my Master’s in Social Work in 2014. I have 22 years of mental health experience in inpatient and outpatient settings.

My journey into counseling began after witnessing how military service affected the emotional well-being and relationships of someone close to me. Approaching those changes with compassion and curiosity led me to study human behavior, and since then I have had the privilege of supporting domestic violence survivors, individuals involved in the court system, outpatient community mental health clients, residents in substance use and personality disorder treatment programs, and military personnel during my own time in service. Today, I continue to build on that experience through specialized training in relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma, creating a supportive space where adults can heal, strengthen relationships, and move toward the life they want.

Hello, I’m A.J., a Licensed Master Level Social Worker from the U.P. of Michigan. Faith, Family, and Fellowship are things that I strive to live for daily. My faith is very important to me. I am involved in Men’s Ministry inside and outside of my church. Haggai 2:9 is a verse that is close to my family's heart: “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty, in this place I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty.” My goal and prayer is that I can help individuals move into a better place than they were when therapy first began. My wife and I have three boys and one grandson. Our family enjoys spending time outside on our 20-acre property “Creation Acres” or getting away camping. My boys and I enjoy spending time in the woods or on the lake. I graduated from Ferris State University in 2018 with my Master’s Degree in Social Work after attending Lake Superior State University completing Criminal Justice / Public Safety Emphasis Bachelor’s Degree and a Paramedic Technology Associate’s Degree in 2008. I have experience working directly with law enforcement as a dispatcher and working in the public safety field as a fire fighter and as an EMT. I currently work for the Michigan Department of Corrections as a mental health specialist. Prior to this career, I worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a foster care case manager and a juvenile justice / juvenile delinquency case manager. I look forward to working with you during your journey. NOTICE – Due to my current position with the Michigan Department of Corrections, I am unable to accept referrals or work with anyone on parole or probation.

Welcome and thank you for considering me as part of your therapeutic support system. Seeking therapy can feel daunting, or maybe even frustrating, but you're making the right choice. I offer individual therapy and group therapy for those who are recovering from trauma. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and some somatic experiencing to support clients with deeper processing and longer meaningful change. Individual trauma-informed therapy provides specialized care to work through intense emotions privately. While group therapy offers relatability, experience, evidence, and community. Witnessing the healing and growth of others can help you experience healing and growth of your own. This is NOT traditional talk therapy. I utilize techniques with specific protocols, steps, and processes. If you're looking for someone to talk with and sort out thoughts and feelings as more of a free-style conversation, this would not be the best approach for you.

Hi there! I'm a therapist who specializes in helping people overcome people-pleasing tendencies and trauma. You might be tired of constantly putting the needs of others before your own, feeling like you're never enough, or struggling to set healthy boundaries. It can be overwhelming to navigate these challenges on your own, but together, we can work towards building your self-esteem, creating space for your own needs, and developing new ways of communicating with others. If you've experienced trauma, it can be difficult to trust others and feel safe in your everyday life. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other symptoms that make it hard to move forward. I want you to know that healing is possible, and you don't have to go through this alone. Using evidence-based therapies like Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I can help you process your experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and move towards a more fulfilling life.

Teenage years are stressful on the teen and the family. Is your teen having a hard time making healthy choices? Are they angry for no apparent reason? Is your teen a bully or are they being bullied? Parenting a teenager is difficult. I also specialize in counseling teens that identify as LGBTQ+. It can get better, with the right help. I’ve been working with teens for many years and I know how tough it can be on the teen and the parent. Imagine your teen being able to communicate their thoughts/feelings without anger or resentment. We are disconnected - from each other, from the world, and from ourselves. Humans suffer profoundly when they can’t connect. Using Existential Therapy as a framework, I help clients navigate challenges regarding isolation, purpose, choice, and death in order to reconnect in healthy ways. A therapist acts as a mirror, not giving advice but helping you see yourself clearly and encouraging the self-respect that fuels healthy relationships. Provided the fit is good, trust is established, and you are motivated for change, therapy can be an excellent starting point for building the life you desire. I practice primarily with individual adults but also groups. I also work with high-functioning teens who are motivated for change. Virtual sessions upon request, in-person strongly recommended.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
