Hi, I’m Ilan, a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. I specialize in helping adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, and self-awareness. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. Finding the right therapist shouldn’t feel complicated. I’m direct, easy to talk to, and focused on real solutions that help you move forward. My work centers on helping clients understand what’s getting in the way of their well-being, build self-awareness, and develop the confidence to create meaningful change. My style is goal-oriented and collaborative. You won’t just talk about problems; together we’ll work toward clarity and tools you can actually use. I integrate CBT, person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, innate health principles, and humanistic approaches to help you understand yourself.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our sessions, you’ll find a compassionate partner in your journey. I believe therapy is most effective when it’s tailored to your unique needs, so I’ll meet you where you are and support you at your pace.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I focus on building a genuine therapeutic relationship based on empathy, authenticity, and respect. Rather than directing or prescribing, I walk alongside you—helping you tap into your own strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth. In this collaborative process, you set the pace and direction, while I support you in uncovering deeper self-understanding and finding new ways forward that feel true to who you are. Clients often tell me they appreciate my honesty, steady presence, and the way I help them see things from new angles. I create a space where you can be yourself, explore challenges without judgment, and build the internal skills needed to navigate life with more ease.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to work with adults, typically between the ages of 30–60, who come from a more traditional, conservative, or religious background and want therapy that respects and aligns with their values. Many of the clients I serve are dealing with anxiety, depression, or stress, and are looking for practical tools alongside a deeper sense of meaning and direction. They are often thoughtful, motivated for growth, and open to reflecting on their experiences while still wanting to stay grounded in their beliefs and way of life..

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. In our work together, we’ll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, gently challenge them, and replace them with more balanced, realistic perspectives. We’ll also focus on practical strategies—like coping skills and small behavior changes—that you can use in everyday situations to improve how you feel and respond.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

use principles from Person-Centered Therapy to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings. My role is to listen with empathy, understand your experience from your perspective, and help you connect more deeply with your own values and strengths. Rather than directing the process, I trust your ability to grow and find meaningful change at your own pace.

Existential

I use principles from Existential Therapy to help you explore questions around meaning, purpose, freedom, and responsibility in your life. Together, we look at how you relate to uncertainty, choice, and the realities of life, and how these influence your thoughts and feelings. The goal is to help you live more authentically and make choices that align with your values, even in the face of life’s challenges.

Psychoeducation

I use psychoeducation to help you better understand how your mind and emotions work, including how stress, thoughts, and behaviors are connected. I’ll share clear, practical information about what you’re experiencing and why it happens, so things feel less confusing or overwhelming. This understanding can empower you to recognize patterns and use effective tools to manage challenges more confidently.

Mind-body approach

I use a mind-body approach to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are all connected. Together, we’ll pay attention to how stress and feelings show up in your body, and use techniques like breathing, relaxation, and body awareness to help regulate your nervous system. This approach can support both emotional balance and physical well-being, helping you feel more grounded and in control.
